Looking like KJH is the play

Harper has teams play tough D and not a very good offense. Tries an old formula that won’t succeed with the changes that have occurred in the women’s game. It’s the same thing Holly was doing. Now, she would have more respect from players and knows the X and O’s better than Holly but will not have major success here IMO.

I stay calm. I may argue, but I can assure you I never let this message board get my blood pressure up. I try to make coherent, fact based arguments to facilitate discussion.

Yes, see that’s where we differ I’m not going to argue I’m just going to keep enjoying the board and take it for what it’s worth 😃

Again, I think if we are looking at just the Stanford game it certainly looks that way. However, They have scored 69, 89, 94, and 89 points in their previous 4 games (three of which were against top 25 teams).

Just put the blank contract at the top of a ladder and then throw Mulkey, Staley, Walz, and Shaeffer into the ring together.

It seems to me that the priority is keeping it in the Vol family at all cost. Not sure I agree with this approach. I much prefer hiring the best coaching candidate available. I hear Kara Lawson being mentioned.. Is she even a coach? This is getting a bit out of hand.
Pat Summitt's 1st job was at UT.

We'll just ignore the previous 31 games...

Sounds like a program on the upswing....
Why the Missouri State Lady Bears should be NCAA Tournament-bound for years to come

‘The defense Harper had her team playing in the NCAA Tournament was able to contain some of the top offenses in the country. Harper had her team's offense not panicking while knocking down big shots during the biggest games of the season.
MSU's success has started with Harper. With her as head coach, it has a better chance of continuing.’

Not worried at all. Fulmer will interview her as a courtesy. Once NCAA tourney is over, more coaches will be interviewed
If none are interested, then Fulmer hires Kelly. Meanwhile after her interview, she waits a couple of weeks by the phone to hear from Phil

KJH is a done deal! Will be announced Friday! They are giving her time to talk to her Mizzou St team! Waltz has already let Fulmer know he was not interested! I knew it would be a lady vol just thought it would be Nikki Fargas! Oh well! Welcome back KJH! Go Vols!

I mean her team caught lightning in a bottle. The last coach we hired who was at Missouri State prior to UT was Cuonzo Martin, whose last team also caught lightning in a bottle as an 11-seed in the tourney in his last year. He bolted for Cal and never did anything except get upset in the 1st round by Hawaii in one season, and now he's at Mizzou and hasn't done crap there, either. Your team getting hot at the right time doesn't make you a great coach.

I'm not saying is a bad coach. I actually don't think she is. I'm saying she hasn't proven enough as a coach to warrant her being at a storied program like TN. Her record doesn't show it, her recruiting doesn't show it, her team's stats don't show it. At least right now. A Sweet 16 run does not warrant being put in charge of one of the most storied programs in college athletics, alumni or not.

I know people keep ignoring the backstory about all that transpired at NCSt. and why that simply wasn't the right fit for her. But none of those issues would hinder Harper at Tennessee.

I would love to know the back story. What I do know is she was hired by one AD to follow in the shadow of a beloved legendary coach at NCST and was let go after the AD that hired her was let go by the new AD. The new AD happened to be the sister of the legendary coach and she brought in her coach. She has been Coach of the year in two different conferences and took 3 teams to the NCAA tourny. She took a team described as over achieving to the NCAA at NCST followed that up with a down rebuilding season with injuries to 2 WNIT tournys before being let go in a total cluster situation at State. She recruited a Frosh All American at State that she developed. She did not win enough and she was let go during a period of 2 years that saw Yow fire and hire 7 coaches at NCST. I do not know the backstory and would be interested in knowing it. The articles still on line are just meat and potato news of her firing.

It is also important to know that Kellie Jane has a buyout and is due a retention bonus as of 4/21 of a $100,000

I don't think anyone can argue that Wes Moore was a much better choice than Kellie at NC State.

I mean there are always back stories as to why coaches don't succeed at schools. The same can be said at Texas for Gail.

Well you didn't ask me if Cal should have hired Cuonzo or not and Harper has accomplished more at Missouri State than what Cuonzo did when he coached there.
It's a mid major, Tennessee has made that work once and they caught lightning with Pearl and its yet to happen here since.
