I can actually almost understand the "being a fan" comment, because that would be difficult to police. But, if someone was born and raised in the city where the university is, that should be enough evidence to exclude that person from officiating a conference game. It is a flat-out no brainer. And, that guy should have totally recused himself. The fact that he did not should have punitive consequences, i.e. a suspension. What they will do now is say he can't work any more LSU games. That's great. The horse is already out of the barn. And, again, just to emphasize, I am not blaming him for our loss. We should have won the game and did not make the plays at the end of regulation or OT to win. That's on us.

It could be difficult to police, but an honest official would disclose that he roots for X team. Therefore, don't put me on those calls. I did some research, and it appears that Jordan is originally from Decatur, Georgia, but he obviously has a tie to LSU. The SEC HAS to ask those questions or they are incompetent or corrupt.

With gambling becoming prominent in more states now, this issue isn't going away. With the type of money that is generated and the outcomes at stake, you would think the SEC would have a small group whose job is to vet officials and even go see and talk to people around them. I know that occurs when people have to get security clearance in government jobs. It's not a good look, and it's just frustrating that it happens to Rick Barnes, who tries to do it the correct way. Yet, Will Wade, in year two, gets to cry, whine, and scream, and he gets the benefit of it.

The more I think about the LSU game, the less concerned I am. Their freshman guard that scored so many points including the last few, was just walking around Jordan bone to the basket. But Jordan bone probably had the flu, if you’ve ever had the flu you know how that makes you feel. He’s a better on the ball the defender than he was showing in this game. If they played again next week there’s no way that would happen again, in my opinion.

Barnes is stating the obvious: UT should have played better and seized opportunities to win the game, but officiating was an issue that impacted the outcome, and that shouldn't happen. He doesn't usually contact the SEC about questionable calls, so when he does, that says something. And when the SEC actually agrees with him, that says even more. Issues that are ignored generally aren't resolved.
What's Barnes deal? He too damn lazy to get off his ass and do something about it?

He content to just sit around getting dicked on the couch???

I missed the end of the game, but I read that Bone also had 4 fouls. I don't know when he picked up his 4th, but the comment was that he was afraid of fouling out as well as having the flu.

I believe Rocky Goode lived in Knoxville and never did a UT game.

Also, there is an old article out there about basketball officials. I think Mike Stuart lived around Knoxville, and he only did UT’s non conference games- never did conference games. That would be next level incompetence/arrogance by SEC if AJ has ties to Baton Rouge and calling their games.

I agree with the premise but there is a diffference with Rocky.

He played at UT therefor was not allowed to call a UT game.

Didn’t realize Rocky played at UT. But I believe football also has a radius requirement from their residence where they can’t call games within a certain distance.

If we had an unethical person who would not admit to being a UT fan calling a game, he would fall all over himself to appear unbiased in the game. He would whistle more fouls on Tennessee to "prove" he was not a UT fan, much in the same way our media writes crap about our teams in the interest of "journalistic integrity."

Well, that wasn’t your initial question. Not sure what Rick Barnes can do about what the SEC does. But apparently Austin Price said on radio that he doesn’t think Jordan does another LSU game or maybe even UT game.
I'm almost certain that coaches can blackball refs and not have them referee any of their games. I was wondering about TV Ted because I hadn't seen him this year but then he popped up against Vandy last week.

That game meant way too much for him to be there-- and yes, he was very bias.

It amazes me when folks minimize bad officiating with the "we had chances to win" argument. It is why we don't have the transparency with officials that we need.
It's like they can't wait just to blame the team..I will never understand the "No excuses" crowd..There are crappy excuses, and there are valid reasons...

Bad officiating screwing you out of a win is a valid reason...

And that was the game when Barnes had a hot mic to start the game and was telling his assistant how TV ejected him years ago in the NCAAT. He said it was totally not warranted.

Also, the SEC would never admit to this. They will never say that a coach has influence over who the officials are.

when they defended him, they were called for ticky tack fouls. Not sure if you noticed that.
They never notice stuff like that, but that doesn't stop them from bitching when a star player fouls out..then they jump the guy for being too aggressive...this is why biased officiating is so hard to overcome even in mismatches against middling teams...it does not just cause 4-5 point swing, it causes a much larger swing when all it's collateral effects are taken into account.

Rick holding his tongue and not complaining to the SEC until now makes his complaint all the more potent. It’s obviously not an excuse he wanted to give the team, but it reached a point where he felt he needed to defend them.

He’s taken the whole process very professionally and commendable.

We have hit a tough stretch....

Ky after they lost to LSU
LSU after they lost to FL
And now the Ole Miss situation....it’s time we use what happened at LSU to motivate us to finishg this season off!!
