This is hands down, without a shadow of a doubt, the best class we have had in 4 years. One could argue this is the best class we have had in over a decade.
247 Class Average Rating:
- 2019 - 0.9045 (Adding Wright and dropping Cox)
- 2018 - 0.8757

Only Kiffin's 2009 class had a better rating. Yet Butch is considered a "great" recruiter, and Pruitt "can't close".
MV, if you don't mind me asking, what is it you do? Do you work for the University? Are you a HS coach? We weren’t invited or Welcome like we are now. The interaction with staff, personnel and players is night and day. The atmosphere is like it used to be. The energy in that building is electric. Even last year with the losses, we just chalked them up and went back to work.
I can’t stress this enough, I want Pruitt to succeed and stay at UT for a LONG time. He is what we need on the hill. If he gets some depth, and wins here, it could be magical a few times over.
We have to be patient.
Random question. Is Roman Harrison a better prospect than Jacquez Smith was? Both seem to be high school monsters that don’t have a ton of room for physical growth.
Harrison has been at the top of my list, even when he was still a sleeper; but, Savion Williams has shot up to the top over the last little while. I believe that dude steps right in. It'll take a moment to get fully adjusted to the SEC; but, I fully expect him to, and quick. Most excited for (in no order):
Wanya and Darnell
Harrison
Crouch
McCollough
and Savion Williams
I like our entire class, feel it's well rounded and addresses needs. But those are the dudes who I can't wait to see cracking skulls against Georgia State in week 1.
Thanks, BOOMS; I appreciate this. This is hands down, without a shadow of a doubt, the best class we have had in 4 years. One could argue this is the best class we have had in over a decade.

Not to mention he'll benefit from (hopefully) better coaching and S&C.I see the similarities you’re referring to. Two things that stick out to me...
1. The difference in competition level
2. The difference in projected positions
I think Harrison projects better at a 3-4 OLB than JS did at a 4-3 end in the SEC. Thats my hope anyway.
Lived in L.A. from 1999 - 2006. Folks I encountered then definitely recognized the Power T and expressed a great deal of respect for Tennessee. Of course, that was better times for the Vols overall. Here in California, whenever someone sees the Power T on my hat, they say something about the Longhorns.![]()

Per average with Wright and no Cox, we'd be at 14th, Clemson would be 15th, yet with a sum leaves Clemson currently at 9th with 27 commits. Seems this year Clemson is loading up. Per average we are on par.I like quality over quantity (Clemson has done very well with this model) but doesn't make the class better necessarily. Imagine 2015 if we dropped 8 guys. Average would shoot up.
All in all, going by 247 composite points, this class would sit right square between 2016 (better than) and 2014 (worse than). Given its size (less attrition likely) and our valuable transfers, this class sits equal with 2014 in my book. Tied for 2nd best in a decade. Not bad at all.
2020 has always looked better, both in state and with a boss QB leading the way. It should be our shot at a top 5 finish. Beyond that, it'll be the same as with Butch. Gotta prove it on the field or we may tank.
