where was all the crying and whining when williams committed to Minnesota? i don't recall a single entity or fan saying "Man Minnesota showing TN up on the trail, how'd we let him get away?" or when Russell committed to Memphis "man, Memphis is out recuriting TN, did you see they got the 900th ranked player over Tenneessee, good pick up for memphis, wtf is wrong with tn?"

what this boils down to is russell was really smart in not signing with memphis in December. it was a risk. but it's going to pay off for the kid. so instead of just moving down the road to mid town memphis, he's getting a free ride to college station.

i say good for him. buut don't play it like Tennessee screwed this up. there was nothing TO screw up. you want in, you got a spot. take it or leave it....when we decided he was a need, we recruited him. and we did all the things we do for anyone we recruit.

i would see this as an encouraging sign with Tonto. If Toro wants in, we have to take him. Russell was in play all week till our in home with To'oko'ono, now it's off. Cautiously optimistic with this complete theory, and; if you've read this far...you're hoping it's Toblerone as much as me?

I am not trashing the kid because sometimes life throws curve balls. But I thought at the time that Russell made a big mistake by missing his first OV. Showing up on time is half the battle. He prolly wanted to be a Vol but just did not get through that door when it was opened for him. Any three star is rolling the dice when he takes his recruitment into the final stretch. Would not surprise me if he signs with Tennessee. Would not surprise me if he doesn't. Either way, good luck to him.
