another thing....pruitt making a statement that "the state of tennessee is giong to be our #1 priority" does not translate to "we'll take anyone from the state that wants to come here, for fear of it looking bad"
THESE KIDS DIDNT REALLY WANT TO COME HERE.
and we didn't recruit them hard because we thought there were better players available. which is what we should do.
where was all the crying and whining when williams committed to Minnesota? i don't recall a single entity or fan saying "Man Minnesota showing TN up on the trail, how'd we let him get away?" or when Russell committed to Memphis "man, Memphis is out recuriting TN, did you see they got the 900th ranked player over Tenneessee, good pick up for memphis, wtf is wrong with tn?"
lol.
what this boils down to is russell was really smart in not signing with memphis in December. it was a risk. but it's going to pay off for the kid. so instead of just moving down the road to mid town memphis, he's getting a free ride to college station.
i say good for him. buut don't play it like Tennessee screwed this up. there was nothing TO screw up. you want in, you got a spot. take it or leave it....when we decided he was a need, we recruited him. and we did all the things we do for anyone we recruit.
agendas and narratives for clicks. enjoy.
