Probably not, but I don’t think this has been as good of a recruiting staff as advertised though.
the narrative being pushed is really frustrating.Anderson is only kid that should have any beef. Screw this russel douche and logue. Cry babies. Who cares when you are offered as long as you get it? Texas AM sure as heck didn't offer early. We don't need either of those 2 butch premadonna attitudes on this team. That is how we got where we are.
While I’m happy to have all of the players you referenced, much of the work on them was done by Nieds. I didn’t say that Nieds was overrated; I wish we had 5 more of him on the staff. Everyone else, I just don’t see it as much, and being in the conversation on recruits doesn’t really move the needle for me if they don’t commit/sign. I think this staff needs upgrading in closing and organization. I gave Pruitt credit for recognizing that and bringing Tee in.I don’t know if too many 5-7 teams signing two 5* (assuming we get Wright), and the former #1 player in the country (Crouch).
Additionally, this staff has kept us in the race for a few prospects that should not have given us the time of day.
Let’s also remember we’ve been running with programs that have had infinitely more recent success than us (Clemson, Bama, UGA).
Maybe this staff doesn’t meet your unrealistic standards, but to say that they are “not as good as advertised” when it comes to recruiting isn’t objective. JMO.
Post of the day. Fully agreethe narrative being pushed is really frustrating.
we offered Logue, what 2-3 days after UGA and because we were "late", we should be punished or something? gtfoh.
and again, NO ONE was pursuing Russell until thanksgiving, beause 4 SEC programs realized they needed a back up plan. he was committed to Memphis.
Williams simply wasn't the type of player we were looking for, and committed to Minnefreakingsota. that's not exactly where our bar is set.
but it sounds like, at least to some fans and some local media, the only thing that matters is placating any instate recruit that decides to manufacture a beef with the University of Tennessee for not recruiting them hard enough.
B.S. if any of those three wanted to really go to UT, they would have. period.
and the reason this state isn't like others is because the state is divided in to 3 different sections. and it's always been that way.
Memphis is closer to Ole Miss, MSU, Arkansas, Auburn, Bama, Vandy, Memphis and LSU than it is Knoxville.
Nashville is a transplant city and a large % of those kids we're recruiting now either didn't grow up here, or their families weren't even in the state when this program was at it's peak.
the university has to be the only one loyal in this relationship? really? how bout coming to camp when you're invited? how about coming on an OV when you're invited?
it takes two for there to be a relationship, and it's not all on UT as to why some of these kids didn't come.
now, i'm not naive either, i'm sure there's things that can be done by our staff to help. but at the end of the day, if you're a back up plan, i see no value in taking a kid's committment onlye to reneg on it later if something better comes along. in that light, there's no winning.
this whole narrative just pisses me off. news flash: not all TN HS players are good enough to go to TN. and not all HS players in TN give two craps about playing football in TN....we start winning again, make it a destination again, and that will change.
for now, this is the crap you just have to put up with.
