Idk about overrated in college, but there is no doubt those LSU's teams were mediocre. The first time I remember watching the Pistol play was for the New Orleans Jazz (now u all know why Utah is called the Jazz) and he was just a little above average, at best in the NBA, imoMy father in law thinks he was very over - rated and that, as you suggest, their entire offense revolved around getting Pete his shots. And yes, very mediocre teams.
Man could do things with a basketball that still haven’t been matched. He had greatness. I don’t know how well it translated into a team concept but his skills were ahead of their time. Some say the same thing about Allen Iverson. I can see the comparison. His magic required him to be a ball hog and limited him to one championship opportunity. My father in law thinks he was very over - rated and that, as you suggest, their entire offense revolved around getting Pete his shots. He had one game where he went off for like 68,or something ridiculous. My father in law coached and played a lot of basketball, so I respect his opinion.Idk about overrated in college, but there is no doubt those LSU's teams were mediocre. I saw Pistol at the end of his career, so take it fwiw. I did watch a movie about the Pistol on a cable channel. Good movie and I have mad respect for him, but as good as he was in college also, made his NBA career a let down, imo.He had one game where he went off for like 68,or something ridiculous. Man....top 5 Vols you watched?
Vincent Yarbrough
Ron Slay
Chris Lofton
Grant Williams
Josh Richardson
Honorables:
Wayne Chism
Jordan Bone
CJ Watson
Jarnell Stokes
Admiral Schofield
Jordan McRae
So I missed him in his prime. I've seen highlights and know he can ball, but winning matters, too. What did he ever win ?
With Admiral and Alexander leaving, having Grant back would be huge. But he said a while back that he changed his major from engineering to business because it would be easier to get his degree early or come back and finish if he left early. If the opportunity he wants is there this year, he's set himself up to take it. Hope he stays, but it won't be surprising either way.
