It works!!!! Buy in and work your ass off!!!! Couple seasons later NUMBER 1 TEAM in the country!

Punter, Hubbs, and Moore were good players for us during that era. They aren’t in the same league as the greats, of course, but they played hard and seemed like good guys. We didn’t make the tournament but we certainly weren’t an easy out.

My neighbor growing up had one of those movie disc players that predated the Beta and VHS. The disc was the size of a vinyl record, and one of the movies they had was Used Cars. We watched it over and over, lots of nudity. I was like 13 at the time.

Pre-beta max may be Videodisc, not Laserdisc. Videodisc was more or less a LP in a plastic shell. It died out really quickly after tape Beta/VHS, although my elementary school library had one in the 70s. Laserdisc is basically a record size DVD and it survived as a high end format in the tape era until DVD took over. I still have a few dozen Laserdiscs and a player, although we have not used it in forever so it may be hashed.

Sounds like the RCA CED player. I've still got one and several movies here. The discs play with a needle, like a record.

my dad still has our betamax and a slew of movies he recorded on tape. He fought the war vs VHS to the bitter end.
Beta had a superior tape-loading system, later adopted by VHS. VHS had longer playing time, and was more willing to license its format to manufacturers, as I recall.

Yeah it was Sony vs everybody else.

I recall only 2 other companies on Beta -- Sanyo and Zenith.

I just remember Sony. I though Zenith was VHS only.

edit just found this:On the Betamax side were Sony, Toshiba, Sanyo, NEC, Aiwa, and Pioneer. On the VHS side were JVC, Matsushita (Panasonic), Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Sharp, and Akai.

I forgot about Armani Moore trying playing at the 4 at 6’4. I remember him commenting how rough it was on his body.

I'd forgotten a lot of those. Didn't see much Sharp, or any Akai stuff in the stores, though Sharp was big in TVs. Hitachi, Panasonic, Toshiba, Sanyo, were all over. NEC was mostly seen in TVs. Saw a few Aiwas, they were bigger in audio recording, and Pioneer was a lot bigger in stereos. Some companies wanted to be in the market with available "me, too" products; others were satisfied simply to have the products in the line, and some limited availability.

Heads up guys, 247 dropping their rankings at noon on video. Expect some jumps for TN? Who do you think jumps? 5 stars today, rest tomorrow
Rivals on our 5 stars

247 working in concert with Rivals to bump up some Vols players to 5 stars so Rivals can make fun of us later when they under perform :)

All that shows is our SEC schedule and they're all still TBA for a date/time. Notice how there isn't a bye week shown.
Usually it's played in late September, correct? Edit--never mind, they dont' have the last week of September set.
