lol No one’s mad. Also no one takes you seriously. lolThis board is going to hate it but this is
Correct. Butch would be huge upgrade running their special Teams
Also I'll remind this board that butch got a lot of credit for reportedly taking over the WR coaching here a few years back. It was widely accepted that he turned guys like Josh Malone around
Most of them are lateral jobs. Is DC at Bama not a better job than a position coach in the NFL? Not sure. But the OC position at Bama is wide open and both of Bama’s Oc’s left for other jobs. They took lateral moves when either could’ve been the OC there. That’s fishy.
JMO but I'd be excited about him as well if I was Bama. He clearly is a heck of a recruiter and I'd argue he's a good coach that simply the magnitude of this job overwhelmed him. Obviously he woudnt succeed as a head coach there but IF Saban is slipping I'd prefer Jones leave as well because I see him as being a good position coach for him
I’d rather have him here than notBased on the report they are. I know Oklahoma was mentioned and they lost at least 4 ol starters. Maybe all 5. They were talking about it on the radio here earlier. And reportedly Pruitt wants him to stay. So it's possible that maybe he's not as bad as some of us make it sound. Not saying he was good this year but maybe coaches saw more good than we did. And a lot of linemen don't really put it all together for a few years but they don't usually have to play through that development. Unfortunately for him and us, we didn't have the luxury of better options. By all accounts he's a good kid. I'll root for him wherever he plays but hope it's for us. And hopefully he's able to put it all together. I said the same thing when people were bashing Kyle Phillips last year and it clicked for him and he had a solid year. Maybe it doesn't work out for Richmond but I'm not gonna act like it can't.
ThisThe thing is, Bama is justifying Butch to themselves because that's what you do when you're looking for a new coach. You find reasons to be optimistic. But we've seen this up close. And it's not pretty and it ends with sadness for everybody.
A position coaching opportunity at Bama is definitely a great fit for Butch. It's a great fit for any coach. But they should be able to do better. And if they can't, that's hilarious.
Bruin, this wreeks of “smartest guy In the room” syndrome. It’s like you just love to take the opposite stance for the sake of doing it.

You might want to read more post because mine isn't the only take saying Butch would be a good position coach.
Perhaps everyone else is just blinded by hate.
Reminds me of the Dems voting for a wall until trump wanted one.
It's amazing what fans can spin positively and I'm clearly an expert on that topic. But there's a 4 page thread on Bama 247 discussing Butch Jones being on staff next fall as a position coach and most of the posters are excited about the possibility. They want him coaching WR's or TE's and the general consensus is that he's a very good coach but UT was the problem and now that he's a Bammer he's back to being a great coach.
I am starting to think the tides are starting to turn and the cycle is coming around where Bama will suck again soon and the mighty Vols will be back on top!

No, I read all of your posts. We agree on most everything basketVols related. Just this take catches me off guard. His reputation is that he’s a snake oil salesman and NOT a good coach. Also, build the wall. With or without em.![]()
