Or Pruitt could hire Osovet tomorrow and not give what a flying f what the perception is because he is Pruitt.
Yeah, that’s fine. But if you interview outside candidates for 40+ days then decide on the analyst you’ve had on campus the whole time, that’s 100% settling.

And there it is... concession

The search has finally beaten us down enough to where we would be happy with a guy in the SEC who has never called plays outside of juco
You can either call a smart game or you can’t. Doesn’t matter what level. Dabo hired chad Morris from high school and never looked back

He may not have the chance to stay in the NFL. If the new Cleveland HC doesn’t want Kitchens, college or sitting out a season may be his only options considering this block.
I think he is really only staying in the NFL if it's at Cleveland as their HC or OC.

Now, I think he is most likely going to be there. So I am expecting us to move on from him IF he was the #1 guy from the beginning.
Did either of you read the article? Have you paid attention to what the Browns have done since he took over as the OC?

I'll say it again. He will be an NFL coach in some capacity in 2019.

I think a lot of you vastly overestimate the value of fan perception Pruitt holds.
Not really. I don’t think he cares at all.

But “not caring” doesn’t mean he’s immune to criticism for bad decisions or running a fustercluck of a search.

He might not care that we think it but the truth is the truth.

(I’m not saying we’re going to make a bad hire. Still confident.)

So you wouldn’t like the hire now solely based on what the perception would be? How does that make any sense?

It’s either a good hire or it isn’t. Doesn’t matter when it’s made

Doesn’t matter when it is made or who the hire is if the hire doesn’t pan out.

So again, even if Pruitt did get a big name and the big name didn’t produce, then whose fault is it? That’s right it’s Pruitts fault it won’t be whoever the OC was getting blamed. So again, it doesn’t matter who Pruitt hires as long as they produce on the field.

So you should never try to hire anyone unless you're positive you will offer, and they will agree because it will look bad? I say go for the best, work your way down, then go to work. Quit worrying about what the media is going to report.

Because i don’t think it would be a good hire. I think people are enamored with this fancy rpo stuff but i don’t believe that’s a way to build an offense especially with how fast and talented the DL and LBs are in This league. It can be a wrinkle sure but not your main thing. We also talk about how JG struggled with progressions... if you’re doing second level RPOs where you’re reading a box safety or a nickel then good luck with that.

The fustercluck has been created by the media and the impatient fanbase IMO

RPOs are here to stay, better get used to it. The NFL has started to adapt offensively.

maybe i've not been looking in the right places, but in all the college football coverage i've watched the last week or so, and all the coaching hires, vacancies coming open etc....i've not heard one thing from anyone about our OC search.

the only media doing anything with this fustercluck is the media that panders to this fan base, and knows they can say inflamatory things and get a reaction.

past that......honestly, i don't think anyone cares outside of this fanbase.

hiring an OC is literally just a blurb on the scroll at the bottom of the screen. there will be no press conference or interviews.

we care cause we care. that's it.

Did you read my post??

The second part where I said the same thing you did... 🤔

If your QB can’t make those reads he probably shouldn’t be your QB.
