He did, Helton was also a coach that Pruitt had never worked with and not a proven OC.
I think/hope if Pruitt got a guy he trusts, proven OC & has worked with it won’t be a micromanager situation.
And with Pruitt/Helton situation. Pruitt has never been a HC before. He probably wasn’t fully ready to be a HC yet either going into last year.
But it was what Tennessee could get because of the state of the program. He seems like he is going to be a good HC, but it won’t be without growning pains
I agree. Trust in your coaches is something they earn, not blindly given. Pruitt had to hold Helton’s hand a lot more because he was not comfortable with Helton’s decisions and Helton did not fully know what Pruitt wanted.
