That makes more sense if you go into a search with a list of 6 to 8 names (for example) and have no clue who you are the most intrigued by from the start. Or better put, you have a wish list and favorites from the start.

You can feel really good about the first guy you approach (formally or informally) and still talk to or even formally interview several more people before you circle back to offering or hiring the guy you started with your #1 choice. Thats why the 95% comment doesn't mean much really.

I don't think they ever got very far with Freeze and I believe most of the info floating on him came from the grand master of contracts. Liberty.

Coaches understand the game. They have their names floated all the time, take interviews, and have talks about jobs they re never going to be offered or would take for their own gain as well.

I don't buy the Fulmer master scheme of calming the fanbase. 1. It didn't (and wasnt going to work). 2. He has put himself in the middle of a racket that he doesn't need to be in. 3. None of it matters until you actually hire a legitimate coach anyway.
This is what I think especially with AV saying thrre was a lot of misinformation about Freeze. We're just so used to us running after 1 guy, getting turned down, running to the next, getting turned down etc. that that is how we were interpreting what was happening with the little information we had.

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. He just got a head coaching job and is building a great staff.

If anything, it reflects poorly on Pruitt for running a guy off in one year and treating him the way he did.
When you're paid $1.2 million dollars to call plays its expected you'll get yelled at sometimes by your boss when things don't go so well. And if you can't handle that then GTFO. Boo fn hoo bro.

Ron and the Swansonites are out to get you now. It’s heavy!

Can’t have any opinion other than the sunshine pumping, everything is fine, head in the sand opinion.
Funny thing is I didn’t even give an opinion. I don’t know how Helton feels, and frankly I don’t care. All I did was post what was said on the podcast with none of my own comments. People shooting the messenger on here.

It’s foolish to act like it’s impossible that it’s happening. That’s the head in the sand mentality. I’d rather it not be, but if it is, I hope it isn’t hurting Pruitt with this hire.

I found it interesting what Price said yesterday. Not as much what he said about the hire not being in place before ESD, but that he said it a week before that happens.

The sense of urgency is not there. That either points to Pruitt being comfortable in what he knows or he's clueless. IMO.
I am beginning to think that part of this could be Pruitt letting the fans know that he will do things his way and our reactionary methods will not elicit a response from him. Highly doubtful it is really that, but it has crept in my mind a bit here lately. How much is it Pruitt sending a “message” to the fans?

Negative SPECULATION.

It’s all assumed drama. This goes both ways. We assume Coach X is involved and site goes crazy.

I think we are just DONE with hearsay and speculation. Just show us a name after they sign. Until then... yoga pants
Wasn’t my speculation. I just posted what was said on a podcast. Don’t like it? I’m just the messenger

These guys are modding Madden skins for the PC version of the game to replicate the college game. Looks cool. Wish it was possible on consoles.

Heeellll yeah i’ve Been waiting for this mod! Madden is awesome on PC. Franchise mode with 31 other team owners is pretty crazy

I wasn't attacking you, Bass. I was saying that it sounds like a made up rumor and if Rob Lewis said it, I think he's wrong.

And I don't doubt that Helton might not like Pruitt anymore, he likely didn't enjoy getting yelled at after his offense didn't perform well. But he was paid a small fortune and was assisted in finding new employment. If Helton wants to pick up the phone and talk bad about his former employer after the fact I think that's childish and not good for his future in coaching. If other coaches call him and he gives an honest opinion, that's totally fair.

Again, not calling you out Bass or bashing you for sharing info.

How was he treated? Specifically if you know or can say.
He was promised that he could run his offense with no interference and that promise (along with the pay) resulted in him taking a pay cut and basically making a lateral move from a job standpoint. But he was not allowed to run the offense he wanted, and instead was forced to run some mix of what Pruitt wanted and what Will Friend wanted. When the offense struggled as a result of 1) the mixed messages and 2) operating a power running system without the personnel for it, Pruitt attacked him for it instead of backing off and allowing him to run his offense.

He was then pulled from the booth - where he preferred to coach - so that Pruitt could more closely watch him and “keep an eye on him” and the plays he was calling. Again, that’s not how you treat another adult/peer you hired to do a job.

The public tongue lashings were the last straw. He was embarrassed - as any of us would be - and didn’t like being the scapegoat.

He was going to do whatever it took to get out of here after the season. It just so happens he fell forward into a head coaching job.

Bass, you and I both know VQ knows what they’re talking about and they don’t drop that kind of information lightly.

Wrong... Sounds like a big case of butt hurt and most professionals don't want to hear people whine lack that.

I agree Ron. You know who else is being yelled at every week? Chaney and Locksley. Kiffin was chewed up and down the field every game. He was on the sports channels being laughed at for Saban humilitiating him.

In other words, this isn’t new. Helton was paid 1.2 mil and he did a crappy job. If he’s calling people that’s unprofessional. I don’t know if it’s happening, I just posted what the VQ guys said.

There’s no way that’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever heard...even in the last hour...on this thread! He’s taking over a losing team and RETAINING the majority of the coaches...that’s “great”? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve read in the last three posts.

And how do you know that any of this is true?

I'm just asking so we are clear. Is this your opinion or fact?

There’s a difference between Helton badmouthing UT and honestly answering questions about his experience at UT. If OC candidates ask him about working with Pruitt, the state of the rebuild, the talent he had to work with, the group dynamics of the staff, the pressure/hours of the job and the grind of the SEC, he should give candid answers. Anybody unwilling to deal with the reality of the situation or what it takes to fix it isn't the right guy for the job. It's better all around if they find that out upfront.

Yea but the underlying issue in all of that is if Helton is telling people that Pruitt won’t let you do what you want on offense then it’s will keep us from getting a quality candidate and we might as well promote from within. (Obviously we don’t what he’s telling people, but if he was miserable here like what was put out... it wouldn’t surprise me).
