Exactly, that is why Doug starting relaying that those were just "pick their brain sessions". Interviewing three other candidates two days after you had your 95% made no sense otherwise. As has been said coaching is a tight fraternity, and if you have your 95% and are confident enough to "allow" DM to go on radio and say it, and then you turn around and do those interviews, you'd definately burn some bridges with a lot of coaches. So either DM was told they had their 95% at some point prior to last week, and that blew up (Freeze perhaps?), or they (Fulmer) planted a fake news story on the 95% to relax the fan base, while they went out to conduct the real "post Freeze" search.

That makes more sense if you go into a search with a list of 6 to 8 names (for example) and have no clue who you are the most intrigued by from the start. Or better put, you have a wish list and favorites from the start.

You can feel really good about the first guy you approach (formally or informally) and still talk to or even formally interview several more people before you circle back to offering or hiring the guy you started with your #1 choice. Thats why the 95% comment doesn't mean much really.

I don't think they ever got very far with Freeze and I believe most of the info floating on him came from the grand master of contracts. Liberty.

Coaches understand the game. They have their names floated all the time, take interviews, and have talks about jobs they re never going to be offered or would take for their own gain as well.

I don't buy the Fulmer master scheme of calming the fanbase. 1. It didn't (and wasnt going to work). 2. He has put himself in the middle of a racket that he doesn't need to be in. 3. None of it matters until you actually hire a legitimate coach anyway.

Did you watch whole game? Refs were trying to hand the game to KC

Yes I did, and I agree that most of the calls were for KC early on. So the make-up calls in the final few seconds are OK then? I wish that they had just let the two teams play instead of calling all the ticky-tack fouls near the end. Zebras ruined the game IMO.

Bottom line, KC defense sucked in the 4th quarter and ultimately cost them the game. I don't know why Eric Berry was not in there.

That hold on Mike Williams in the end zone was warranted though.

I won a big over bet on that last play so i loved it but it sure appeared the zebras were bought on the over last night.
Lost of bogus defensive holding penalties

Hey Bruin, do you bet on UT games? I get stressed out enough just from fandom, I can’t imagine what I would be like if there was money involved

I do occasionally. Bet huge on Tenn ML against Kentucky. I also bet against us vs Florida but that didn't even ease the pain

I might bet memphis tomorrow.
Classic letdown spot.
I don't think memphis is good enough to beat us but I think we play with a hangover and it's close. I expect the line to be 10
Or so. If it's more I may take memphis

UT doesn't want to lose assistant coaches this year, especially Kelly who is one of our best recruiters. Pruitt hired guys he knew and could trust, and they know stability is important in a rebuild. Unless someone is offered a promotion that would be hard to refuse, UT can counter financially.
Many have hinted at this. They want to limit turnover as much as possible.
