Doug Mathews says Pruitt has made OC Choice

Guys it’s Friend, it’s always been Friend and always was Gonna be Friend. He hasn’t been interviewing to fill the OC, he’s been interviewing to fill the hole in O staff. Could be for Oline or another position depending on how he juggles people around.

Get ready for it cause it’s gonna be Friend as OC and a new underling to work under Friend.
You don’t interview Freeze, Briles and others for an Oline position. Respectfully you should rethink that one.

This response right here should tell you all you need to know about the mentality and maturity of those who post the kind of garbage he does consistently.
Feel free to use the ignore button, dude.

I get it that I like everyone else would like to know who. Although not sure how its a joke just because no information is leaking. We have to come with realization that Freeze seemingly had too much baggage for a big P5 job even as a coordinator. Him going to Liberty is pretty telling that no one could hire him that really wanted him in a P5 school. Think about it. USC, FSU, AL, and UT all had interest but declined the deal. Think about it. Turner Gill only made 650K a year as a HC. Freeze would have just about made double at any of those other jobs as an OC. Bad thing is 5 years ago Freeze is hired no questions asked.

My gut feeling is that we are hiring an NFL guy or Enos.

I think it's a joke because...as in previous searches...the powers that be can't get ahead of the message and public perception makes them look incompetent much like the results on the field did this season. Instead, they are letting the press and message boards drive the story and it looks like another disjointed search.

If they aren't going to hire Freeze, Briles, or whoever...come out with a statement saying they aren't looking to switch to a spread offense and at least make it look like they have an idea of what they want to do.

I’m beginning to think there’s an agreement in place that won’t be announced until after early signing day due to recruiting. Would fit both Atlanta Vol’s and Matthews hints.

Good point, seems more likely than not and makes sense.

Sounds like he is protecting his buddy Phil from the inevitable backlash that will occur when some underwhelming hire is announced. "Phil had nothing to do with it!".

Who wouldn't want to know the name if available? He is worried about knowing and not being able to say it on air? Ok.

This morning on his radio show, Coach Mathews said he has been told (most likely by his best friend Fulmer) that Pruitt has his guy who has accepted the job.
But, Mathews said he does not know that name.
Said he doesn’t ask questions like that because he doesn’t want to know things that he can’t use on the air.
Said UT hasn’t made announcement yet “possibly” because the guy is still coaching somewhere else.
He added that this choice has been exclusively Pruitts and that Fulmer and the administration have not interfered.

Take all that with whatever grains of salt you wish. I’m just passing on what I heard.
If its Pruitt's decision alone, what does that mean? He did bring in Helton, so......

Why do they have to do any of that? Secondly, media isn’t driving the story cause media doesn’t know.

BINGO...............................................

Unless they want to allow the coach to announce it to his players himself instead of hearing about it on ESPN.
Sorry to bump myself but if this agreement was made yesterday afternoon, this announcement will at a minimum NOT be made until that coach can talk to his team. That is the ONLY way this would go down with any amount of class. I think that is the one thing that we can say Pruitt has. Again, assuming this is the case, the fact that many are getting bent out of shape is laughable and slightly disgusting.

Dream scenario, at least the Jones part of it. But most would agree, he ain’t getting anything more from Saban except a “fond farewell” once he finds some other program that will have him. I don’t hate Butch, just hate what happened under his watch at UT.

If this were true he would just be running sabans offense

After the past few hires I cannot say that I blame them on keeping it very private. Currently we have no actual facts on who has been interviewed just who the press thinks may have been. Pruitt may have had his guy for a few weeks and just cannot release the information until a certain date. At this point folks are getting themselves in a tizzy for nothing. They will release the information when they want to release it. Jimmy Hyams is looking pretty smart right now stating it would be 2 or more weeks on the hire to be released.

If Jones was in Knoxville recruiting for Bama, then that would mean he has been given a coaching role at Bama otherwise an offensive QC hire couldn’t recruit

Maybe Jones was really in town interviewing for the OC position. That would be an interesting time to follow VN.

Doug Mathews is the most reliable source we have as fans because he is so well connected to many throughout the entire program. Like really good friends with many on the Hill, most notably Fulmer......[/QUO Correct . Plus he is a vfl that only wants us to win.
