Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

Agree with this. I was ok with it taking awhile - figured there was something to wanting to talk to NFL guys - but this game of clumsy grab ass that has unfolded since then has really not given me a lot of faith (not that I’m predisposed to having much in the program these days).
But who says it's clumsy grab ass? Pruitt and Fulmer are running the search. I don't think they're saying much to anyone. The media has to write something, so they are making stuff up to the best of their abilities. I don't see it as a failed or badly done search. I really just think the media is writing what they can because they don't have sources that know jack.

A few things running around my head.
  1. Pruitt has met with several coaches without any sign of contract talks.
  2. A few media guys have stated that Pruitt is taking his time with the search and it might go on until 2019.
  3. It's been mentioned that Briles frequently meets with coaches to just talk offensive philosophies and exchange ideas. Wouldn't be surprised if Freeze/Yurcich did the same.
  4. The people interviewed by Pruitt (Freeze/Briles/Yurcich/Lebby) are all air-raid super-tempo guys who run an offense that is the polar opposite of what Pruitt said he wanted at his opening press conference.
  5. Rivals guys have mentioned that not everybody interviewed by Pruitt was in consideration for the OC job.
Is it possible that Pruitt is meeting with these guys to get a handle on if this philosophy might hack it in the SEC? To exchange ideas while the actual target (maybe an NFL guy / or Enos) is still stuck with his team?

Not trying to go all "National Enquirer" here, just thought some of this stuff was interesting.
I'd say this may be close to what is transpiring, imo.

I suppose you prefer the meth addled mullet types
I’d just rather be around common people than the uppity types. Meth isn’t bad in Portland it’s pills man. Actually a guy was busted selling Coke in Portland recently. So looks like we’re moving on up.

Well, that could be the case, but everyone thought it was the case with Currie too. I get that they’re different regimes, but as I’ve done a poor job of concealing, my “benefit of the doubt” is busted.

I get that, too. But I look back at last year at this time when Pruitt was putting together his staff. Weinke was hired. Then he wasn't getting a job here ever. Then after NSD all of the sudden he's our new RB coach. Nobody knew who the WR coach was going to be until basically Johnson was announced. Pruitt just doesn't let a lot of stuff out.

Then tell me that we never interviewed him.
I've been supportive of Pruitt through this whole process but 2 weeks in and no OC.

For some reason, the thought of us playing games and wasting time interviewing people that we were "never gonna hire" irks me just a bit.

Pruitt has the autonomy to speak with people at his own discretion. But talking isn't hiring. Freeze has had multiple allegations and accusations against him everywhere he's been. Trouble follows the schools that hire him. Sankey discouraged SEC schools from hiring Freeze. And Fulmer doesn't like Freeze. The ex-Baylor AD was the perfect person to hire Freeze and champion his rehab.

I don't care if the new OCs resume is that he's was the best Madden player living in his college apartment complex if we win 9 games next year.

Auburn is as dirty as they come. When they didn’t hire Freeze, that told me all I needed to know about the situation.

You pretty much had a 50 50 chance. Seek affirmation much?

It was a part of a conversation earlier today. We were going back and forth with some healthy discussion. But sure, I’ll take some affirmation since the wife doesn’t give me any. Lol.

No clue to his validity but a FSU 247 poster that their posters seem to believe is legit and hits often is claiming this will be Taggart/Briles 3rd meeting and he expects a deal to be done and Briles to be recruiting for them on Monday.

Take with a grain of salt but not suprising. I haven't expected us to land him since they said he was meeting with FSU Sunday as it clearly means we didn't close
