UT was never hiring Freeze.
Then tell me that we never interviewed him.
I've been supportive of Pruitt through this whole process but 2 weeks in and no OC.

For some reason, the thought of us playing games and wasting time interviewing people that we were "never gonna hire" irks me just a bit.

Maybe they met but not to interview. Maybe he wanted to pick his brain?

I mentioned a while back that it wouldn't be surprising to see movement internally, possibly with Lilly and Osovet. I haven't read the past 800-1000 pages to see what's been discussed.

Due diligence
I wouldn’t say never but it was unlikely. If you don’t interview then you’re not doing your job

Agree with this. I was ok with it taking awhile - figured there was something to wanting to talk to NFL guys - but this game of clumsy grab ass that has unfolded since then has really not given me a lot of faith (not that I’m predisposed to having much in the program these days).

A few things running around my head.
  1. Pruitt has met with several coaches without any sign of contract talks.
  2. A few media guys have stated that Pruitt is taking his time with the search and it might go on until 2019.
  3. It's been mentioned that Briles frequently meets with coaches to just talk offensive philosophies and exchange ideas. Wouldn't be surprised if Freeze/Yurcich did the same.
  4. The people interviewed by Pruitt (Freeze/Briles/Yurcich/Lebby) are all air-raid super-tempo guys who run an offense that is the polar opposite of what Pruitt said he wanted at his opening press conference.
  5. Rivals guys have mentioned that not everybody interviewed by Pruitt was in consideration for the OC job.
Is it possible that Pruitt is meeting with these guys to get a handle on if this philosophy might hack it in the SEC? To exchange ideas while the actual target (maybe an NFL guy / or Enos) is still stuck with his team?

Not trying to go all "National Enquirer" here, just thought some of this stuff was interesting.

Yeah, i found it odd that multiple sources, VQ in particular, seemed to be going out of their way to state that the hire would not be internal.
