Offensive coordinator search thread

Where are you getting this micro managing part from? Nobody has said that about pruitt before so where is it coming from other than the voices in your head?

There's CEO head coaches, and there's micromanaging head coaches. Neither is correct. Pruitt just so happens to come from the Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban coaching trees. Nick Saban is a micromanager and the best coach of all time.

A control freak coach is not going to hire an OC, hand him the keys to the offense, and say good luck. That is the only way Freeze would work here, and everyone knows that.

You can dispute the fact that Pruitt is a control freak if you want, but the evidence speaks for itself.

Who called the plays against Vandy again?

And that is Hugh Freeze. Absolutely no reason to interview anyone else.

His system works and Pruitt would have him on a tight leash.

Do the right thing Pruitt.
I say like many others, the 1st call should be Jim Chaney and at least gauge interest and then talk work a package deal with Pittman. Especially if this is just the beginning of telling coaching moves. Tyson may try to take someone with him or another college may come calling on other coaches.

Jim Bob wasnt even interested in HC last year. That's who I wanted.
Kiffin didnt leave Alabama to take a coordinator position at Tennessee.
You can cross those 2 names off the list.

This is how this would work with Freeze. He comes and the offense improves greatly under his guidance. (Good for the Vols). He gets hired away as a HC at another school and UT is looking, once again, for an OC. Lack of continuity is killing this team.

Of all of the arguable reasons not to hire freeze, this is not one of them. With his baggage, we would probably get three good years out of him before anyone would pull the string on making him a HC again. This team can make a lot of progress in three years.

Chaney has a plethora of 5 star QB’s and RB’s. What incentive does he have to come here with JG and 3 star players across the starting 11?

Its likely going to be someone running the Smashmouth Spread. Toss downfield to open up downfield running lanes. That is what he has said fits his general philosophy and it is gaining ground in the top programs.

Smashmouth Spread comes to SEC

Who does that indicate that might be available then? Its not going to be Chad Morris or Taggart, so who does that leave us?

Yeah, some of these names are just completely unrealistic. Pruitt needs to make a great hire, but those aren't happening.

I don't think Kingsbury's system is something Pruitt would allow. I think Kingsbury is more air raid/Mike Leach style.

Freeze, Canada and Lindsey would be more likely as they run systems that Pruitt would support.

I worry about Will Friend as OC, but maybe it will open Pruitt up to hiring a top OL coach?

Which ones run a pro style offense. I think it’s Friend or Kitchens because Pruitt wants control. He needs to turn over the O!

I didn't say it wouldn't be awesome, I am saying that a pipe dream is much more likely than Leach leaving to be the OC here. May as well ask for Jesus.

Ha! I was just thinking earlier that Jesus himself wouldn't please some people here.
