- HubbsFirst and foremost, Jarrett Guarantano and Marquez Callaway were full participants in Tuesday's work. JG was throwing taking his normal reps as was Callaway. Both looked fine. JG threw the ball well and Callaway showed no limitations.
So that's good new for the Vols.
Jeremy Banks in individual drills was working at linebacker. Kingston Harris appeared to be getting some individual work on the defensive line.
As for practice itself it was much the same in seeing two periods of individual work. Tennessee did bring a walk on offensive lineman into the linebacker tackling drill making the linebackers get off the lineman block and make a tackle. Something they struggled to do on Saturday against Missouri. For the defensive line it was about gap responsibility. Obviously stopping the run is key on Saturday.
The offensive line looked the same with Neihaus back at right guard. Carvin finished the same at right guard Saturday but Neihaus was back there today
Thanks for the insight. Tone deaf does not begin to describe him.Because he was a facilities guy with a personal agenda. He viewed the stadium renos as his legacy and wanted his imprint all over it. I sat in a meeting the week before Butch Jones was fired, listening to Currie rave on and on about his grandiose renovation plan while the football program-- the engine of UT athletics-- was in flames. He wanted imposing entry gates and patio seating more than a new HC, which he absolutely didn't want at all. UT was so screwed up.
But that's behind us. The program is in good hands now.
Also helps to see a blitz coming right at you.
I hate callers on finebaum. I have to change station. Ridiculous that nobody can talk without screaming and talking 100mph. They all sound like idiots
That was a shame and not only Mizzou, butch hampered not only players but killed coaching.Maybe one of the very few 'success' stories from the Mizzou game is the defense holding Mizzou to a little over 200 yds rushing, which would seem absurd except for the fact that in both '16 and '17 UT gave up over 400 yds rushing each game to Mizzou.
Why do you listen to him? Are you expecting to get some valid football knowledge from his show? It's a freak show and I figured that out listening to his radio show years ago before I knew who he was. It only took a few seconds and I never listened or watched again.
I don't have an NFL team anymore, outside of rooting for whomever is playing the Cowboys.
I usually adopt a team for the playoffs. Last year it was the Eagles, because of Barnett.
This year, it's looking like either Berry (Chiefs), Kelly (Rams), or Kamara (Saints) has a really good chance to get a ring.
Stability is important, but getting the right personnel in place is equally important. Most first-year staffs don't stay completely intact. It's realistic to expect a new HC to rethink some of his decisions and want to make refinements. And some guys might choose to pursue opportunities elsewhere. I doubt we have any acrimonious firings, but there might be movement-- and that shouldn't reflect negatively on the state of the program.
If I were Fulmer and we lost to Vandy Saturday I’d hold a big press conference and extend a special invite to the Chief Vols of the Volnation fanbase.
I’d let some of them have the podium for a bit to foam and moan about how much this or that coach sucks and how much this is Tennessee and we don’t have to stand for this year in and year out.
Then I’d abruptly take the mic back, tell them I don’t give a **** what any of them think, and I’d hand Pruitt a contract extension to sign right there in front of all them. Then I’d announce to all the recruits and all the other SEC school Pruitt is my man and that isn’t changing despite our stupid fanbase and we are coming after everyone of them.
That’s the final step in this rebuild I’m convinced.
The only reason anyone is panicked about a bowl game in year 1 is they are afraid if we miss it then the wheels will start coming off the bus again. Take that possibility off the table for everyone and this becomes an entirely different conversation. And it’s long past time to shoot down the stupid in our fanbase.
He's got the arm.... in abundance. It comes down to the decisions and reads. Like a good arm, these are a function of both talent and skill development. What concerns me most is that JG is a 3rd year QB who can't make a hot read. The OL is weak but many of the hits JG takes is because he doesn't see problems coming and get the ball out. IMO, most of KC's issues are physical limitations. I think he wanted to throw that first pick to the right place... but didn't have the arm to make the throwTrue. I was responding to those that refuse to admit he has improved and were complaining because some were excited that he was at the top of some stats in the SEC.
