Amateur Hour Continues

Nationalism is an emotion just like radical Islam. It is tribal, dehumanizing. It is fear. The opposite of Patriotism. Patriotism is a bond. Patriots know that no matter your color creed or birth of family origin. And you don’t like your country because of emotion. You love it because of the good actions that have been done in its name and for the ability to recognize the wrong actions done in its name and correct them. Patriots see the bigger picture. Nationalist are narrow minded and see only what they want to see.
You’re completely confusing the word.

That's not g the definition you gave, Captain. By your earlier, simple definition, a patriot would be a nationalist.

Can you make the argument as to why nationalism would be inherently wrong? By that definition, every nation on by the planet is nationalistic, yet you're arguing as though it makes them all Nazi or something, which obviously isn't the case.
The British French and Germans have all over come nationalism and and are more of a patriotic society. They love their countries but have mutual respect for each other. Much like Latvias, Lithuanians, and Estonians. They all love their countries but mutually respect each other. That’s kind of a sign of civilization. It’s also a piller of Realism. Which has been the pillar of Western international relations since the end of WWII.

By your earlier definition of nationalism, they are all nationalistic, yet you say they respect other people and Nations. You are defeating your own argument.

But it haven’t worked for Islam.

It has for me. I can make a distinction between those that follow the religion peacefully and those that pervert the religion for their evil ends. Are you suggesting all Muslims are evil? That would be a strange argument for a liberal.

No I’m not. He you go the definition straight from the book. If you still can’t understand that’s on you. Go read some Hans Morgenthau, George Kennan or Carl Schmitt.

“Nationalism is a multi-faceted phenomenon. Expressing both claims for recognition and for superiority, it is marked by an intrinsic moral ambivalence. Politically, its emergence has coincided with the affirmation of liberal and democratic ideas, and in particular the notion of popular sovereignty. It expresses the political identification of citizens with their state, and the policies of governments to reinforce such identification. It is based on the existence of a shared national identity, relying on the presence of historical, cultural, language or religious bonds.
However, because of the imperfect congruence of states and national identities, nationalism has also developed outside and against nation- state, to affirm the rights of minorities.”

Sorry to change the subject, but several years ago (maybe 15 or 20) I remember watching a news cast when some of the French were pissed at the US over something. They showed protesters showing up in Normandy carrying signs and disrupting the services.
One sign especially caught my eye and it said "get your garbage off our soil". This was at a American cemetery filled with hundreds of WWII veterans that gave their life to reclaim France and the rest of Europe from a tyrannical Germany.
You're welcome France, we'll take our marbles and go home now and let you and the rest of your metrosexual European countries defend yourself.
The sign deal was when Luther lived in France.

Is Donald Trump more popular than Emmanuel Macron in France?
Today they are in Paris to mark Armistice Day, and Trump may be pleased to have left behind the Washington brouhaha following the midterms and his firing of Jeff Sessions.

Yet the broader and more remarkable point is the extent to which Trump and Macron’s fortunes have reversed. When Macron first welcomed Trump to Paris on Bastille Day, in July, 2017, Macron was the new Sun King of Europe; Trump was the toxic one everyone loathed.

Now, while Trump is not exactly universally popular, his approval rating is consistently above 40 percent. Macron’s hovers around 20 percent, and his presidency is starting to look like a lame canard. Indeed, polls suggest that, while Macron’s popularity is now at historic lows, the French are warming up to Trump. Given that there is almost certainly timide Trump factor in France, it’s quite possible the American president is now more than the French one in France. Quite something.

It would be amusing if he ended up being more popular than Macron in France; given that Macron pitched himself quite explicitly as l’anti Trump, the center-left antidote to Trump’s economic nationalism. Macron’s numerous stunts against the Donald – remember the never-ending handshake, his ‘Make Ze Planet Great Again’ speech and more – were designed to show the world that he understood what an awful joke Trump was; that he, Emmanuel, was the future. But it now looks as if Trump could have the last laugh. Then again, the two men have such a great personal connection – similar egos perhaps? Insecurities? – perhaps they can comfort each other. Perhaps they’ll do what struggling statesmen often do: look abroad for a monster to destroy. They could end up marking Armistice Day by starting another war together. Vive les républiques!

‘You’re NOT welcome!’ Macron JEERED during chaotic factory visit

FRENCH President Emmanuel Macron was jeered by angry workers on Thursday as he toured a car factory in northern France, amid rising discontent over his failure to slash unemployment, boost economic growth and cut taxes.

The young centrist’s social and economic reforms, including a controversial hike in fuel prices, have angered the French and dragged his poll numbers down to unprecedented lows. “You’re not welcome here!” shouted Renault worker and unionist Samuel Beauvois as the president toured a Renault SA factory in the northern town of Maubeuge, hailed in the region as a model of productivity. “The money [Renault CEO] Carlos Ghosm gives us for our work, you take straight back out of our pockets. I’ve worked for Renault for 27 years and it is Renault that feeds me – not you Mr Macron… We’re doing just fine without you,” the disgruntled worker continued.

But I’m not a liberal. And I can make the distinction Between radical Islam and main stream Islam.

I find this an interesting concept since they all belong to ONE GIANT UNION, that they rely on to set their rules, guidelines and regulations to govern themselves with . You see the EU flag promoted as much or more than their individual country flags . They are nationalists , they just promote the union as their nation instead of their own countries . We don’t have the same out look , our Union is our country , we are not like Europeans . we chose a different path and I hope to god we never become European again . European, Asian , middle eastern countries made us who we are having to fend and fight them off , to keep what is ours and keep it safe and they want us to be good little sheep and act like they do since non of them have dominate militaries any longer . For me personally , I’d rather try to get along with Putin , at least you know he’s a snake and you know what to do with a snake , either cut it’s head off or walk around it . All of these sanctimonious little European elitists with their back biting and their Americans are trash until we need them bs can kick rocks .

Does Trump end this charade now that the midterms are over or does he just double down on dumb and keep these troops away from their families for Thanksgiving?

Oh dear heavens, I’ve spent 13 years with either Christmas or thanksgiving away from my family, that’s known in nursing just like it’s known in the service, it’s the sacrifice for a choice we make. Lame lame lame.
