2018 Midterm Election Thread

The Tennessee senate race is the Republicans FIREWALL state. If Tennessee goes democrat, the democrats will win the senate.
You are probably safe in the Senate and Tennessee... The early voting numbers in west Tennessee don't look as strong as we needed them to be. People in that part of the state just don't vote in mid-term elections - even when there was an African-American on the ballot who had a chance (Harold Ford Jr in 2006).

I understand that you guys are trying very hard to be ironic... but his claims should be investigated and if he was just blowing smoke? This should be emphasized - even by conservative media outlets. Look, the conclusions reached by our intelligence community regarding Russia's tampering in the 2016 Presidential election were clear and they supported their beliefs with evidence. You are making a false equivalency. One has evidence and one does not.

First, I'm not "you guys". I have no pony in this race. I was making aa joke. But hey, if the people of GA want an investigation, I'm all for it. If the guy is lying, throw the book at him. If the Dems did try to hack the vote, throw the book at them. I'm all for finding the truth, but we both know that is unlikely to happen.

As for the 2016 election, I agree that Russia tampered with the election with their Facebook memes and hacking the DNC, but I've still seen no proof of Trump involvement. Yeah, yeah, but Mueller. He's not offered up any proof to support Trump was complicit. He's prosecuted older crimes, and gone after the lawyer for campaign finance violations, but zero to support the whole Trump/Russia narrative.

Election time always brings me laughs. It's fun to watch people on both sides condemn the same actions they support from their own side. The excuses they come up with are often hilarious.

Weird, why does his race matter?

there were whites getting purged as well. if he had actually done his job correctly he would have been able to do some of the purges so its not like he was way out there creating rules as he went to keep African Americans in their place.

Did Kemp have anything to do with the voting location closures? I was under the impression that was under someone else's purview?
He should have stepped down and ran for governor, then we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Come on now... I have read enough of your posts. You are a hard core Pub. You can admit it.

I never claimed Democrats have never done the same thing. I commented on Kemp and Trump. I'm not seeing Trump's level of engaging in these tactics used by the left, but that is jmo.

Dems love to throw out the racism accusation with no actual proof, so I disagree with you.

Many counties in West Tennessee have surpassed early voting numbers from 2014. Just depends on who showed up. I figure he loses tomorrow, this state is super Trump country.

Huh? Why does the Bredesen-Blackburn race matter? It is one of the most important races to watch tomorrow. The Dems have to have it to win the Senate.

Now, having said that, I do think there are going to be a couple of very good saves tomorrow by Dems. I think McCaskill (Missouri) survives again and so do Manchin (West Virginia), Tester (Montana) and Nelson (Florida).

I'm not. I hate politicians in general. Have zero trust in them. When it comes to issues, on some I lean right, on some I lean left. I still carry a lot of bitterness towards both sides for running two horrible candidates, but I will admit I despised HRC much more than Trump. Trump is an ass, but I truly think HRC is much worse.

Honestly, I'd love if the party system were abolished. Too many put loyalty to party over loyalty to country. But given that will never happen, in some ways I think we'd be better off if both houses of Congress were split evenly. Maybe then they would be truly forced to work together and compromise rather than continually making power plays.

first, I was wondering why Harold Ford Jrs race would have mattered. as in his skin color.

secondly. even if TN goes blue the Rs potentially will hold 53 other senate seats. so it would take more than one upset to pull off the Senate.

I agree completely, but I don't think it will ever happen. Bipartisanship is dead.

I was just pointing to a mid-term election year when voter turnout was still low in that part of the state despite having someone from Memphis on the ballot. His skin color matters because like it or not, African-American voters do tend to vote for African-American candidates when they have that option. The Ford family is a great example of that. They kept sending John Ford to Nashville in spite of him obviously being an incredibly immoral and corrupt person.

Racist. Right?

Racist. Right?
No, more like kinship - the sharing of characteristics or origins; bond, rapport, empathy, understanding and compatibility. It shouldn't be hard to understand why that would be important to a segment of the population who spent much of the first 200 years of this country being discriminated against.

Wow. Why are you against equality and treating everyone the same? This is why you and your ilk don’t deserve respect.

I have never gone to the polls thinking to myself, "Now which one of these people are white and which are not".

I think Dems will take the house, and Rs will expand their senate majority.

The races that interest me are for governor. I never would have thought this in the primaries but Gillum might win down here in Florida. Gillum and amendment 4 (restoring non violent felons voting rights) might have a big impact come 2020.

It’s florida though, so who the hell knows

I believe you. However, the black experience in this country is not equivalent to the white experience. Kinship does matter to them and understandably so.
