I'm hoping your hunch pans out, JM.Once again- Pruitt won’t instantly walk into top 5-10 classes in the first year or two. As long as his first class or two show improvement and develop, he will trend up in recruiting. I firmly believe that. Is there any proof to dispute that or prove it? No. Call it a hunch. If that hunch doesn’t pan out, me and you will get together for the Florida game in Year 3 for steaks, cigars, and Bourbon! Deal?
I could substitute “Kiffen” or “Dooley” or “Butch” for Pruitt and it would describe the program for the past decade
Always the dog chasing its tail.
Until we find a coach that can develop players on the field, we are going to continue to be talking about next year.
I'm not trying to discount anybody, I'm simply regurgitating his bio, he also had stints at Hoover High School and Fort Payne. I'm not sure where he met his wife. I think it speaks volumes here that such simple facts are apparently deemed hostile to your views. In title he was Support Staff but even Saban has said he was coaching DB’s in that “support staff” role. Amazing we are now at a spot trying to discount our coach. Amazing.
I should have put a disclaimer that only BeardedVol gets my cigar, steaks, and bourbon offer
I hope you're correct on recruiting I just done see the 2019 class having much impact if at all where we need it most on the oline, and see a 5-6 win season next year. Which in turn is not going to help the 2020 or 2021 class unless there's signifant demonstrable player development.
If he lands the #1 AND the #2 offensive lineman in the country, that will help. Has to.I hope you're correct on recruiting I just done see the 2019 class having much impact if at all where we need it most on the oline, and see a 5-6 win season next year. He’s gonna recruit top 12-15 classes out of the gate with a crappy team for year 1 and 2. As long as he stays at or above Butch’s win total after year 3, he will get top 10 classes and challenge for Top 5 classes. It’s literally what Saban, Dabo, and folks like Richt and Smart did.
There is zero concern and there shouldn’t be any concern that Pruitt won’t be able to recruit top ten classes here.
I agree. But there are the occasional OL recruits who are capable of starting as freshman. I think those two are such players. You don't want to have to play them their freshman year, it at all possible. Not to mention, that it takes significant time to build an offensive line, even with talented players.
Is CJP your brother or something? You have quite the man crush going.
No. I’m just insanely happy that we actually have a coach who has a system that actually has been proven successful. Doesn’t hurt that he also has a track record of developing players. All Butch could do is sell playing time right away. Pruitt can sell that while also saying he’s developed and is a competent coach.
I’m saying CJP hasn’t been a HC to have a system to be proven successful.
