The QB Debate - post South Carolina (merged)

I love JG’s effort and think he is tough and talented but he had a number of chances to make huge plays and maybe win the game if he would run when he tucks the ball instead of stopping the second he gets to the crease and sees daylight. He always stops and looks to dump it instead of picking up huge yardage by just running when given the opportunity.

Is on the bench. Dude DOES NOT have it between the ears. Some of you will figure that out some day.

JG executed the gamplan well and did his job. Problem is the gameplan is limited with him.

Barring decapitation, JP will play him.
Yes... sadly. you are correct.

How do you overlook QB play on the last 2 plays or even just the last play? Eating the ball on 4th and game is not what we need from the QB.

Did you happen to see SC playing 3 deep cover? Those throws weren't there. JG did not beat us, our defense did.

The RPO that he tucked when Chandler would still be running or the over and underthrows past 10 yards? Look. Defense lost us the game but JG has a long way to go. He is to indecisve.

Overall JG had a nice performance. However in clutch situations he doesn't appear to be that type player that will come through for you.

At the half he looked like he had it figured out but by the end he had begun squeezing the ball too much.

I think he's a good kid and no doubt tough as hell. Just wished he could feel/see pressure better.

My biggest issue with JG though is that it seems he is very hesitant to throw the ball to JJ. Without looking at the stats I would be willing to be KC has nearly as many completions to JJ as JG does. May be wrong but i don't think so.

Did any of you blaming JG see how small our OL was? Did you watch the UF and UGA game? Did you notice any difference between the size and athleticism of their OLs compared to theirs? Even SCs OL can block better than ours. If you cannit see these facts then there is no hope for you.

The OP will get blasted, but he isn't totally wrong. Gaurantano has a huge heart, but he has some bad flaws and they seem to come to the surface at inopportune times.

I can’t imagine how bad Chryst has to be in practice to not start at QB for this football team. We are not a bad team. I give 100% percent props to JG for competing and showing toughness but he is not the answer. People who think he is... is a true testament of how far Tennessee football has fallen.

70% completion tonight, 29-37 for 2 TD and 0 turnovers, and half of his 3rd down conversions were after his line false started. Dumb post
Yep. Some can’t see our D was porous as hell tonight and most the game, giving them a pass and wanting to blame a guy who had an outstanding night...maybe if OL didn’t jump on every series that would help too...maybe that’s JG’s problem too. Some folks are out of their minds.

JG has all the tools. I like the kid. He's just got to learn how to read a defense properly and learn when to sling it. It's not his fault we lost the game.
