I'm tired of these we will never be the same or be back posts. There will come a time whether it is in year 2,3 or 4 where Pruitt will come to the crossroads of taking the next step. Even Dooley and Butch reached that moment and neither could grasp it but it was there for the taking. Pruitt will get his shot at some point with HIS guys. We will see if he breaks through. I got a feeling he will
Dooley never got there

I can see this. He's not used to what he's going through. I hope he has the patience to see it through. I think it will largely depend on what support he gets from the administration. If they start balking on things he perceives as needs to success, I think he leaves for a program that will invest in championship level success. We are a penny pinching program that looks a football as a cash cow for other things. We max out revenue and minimize expenditures.

Why hire Pruitt if you are not going to let him build it Bama style? I mean he's a relatively inexperienced coordinator (but very successful) with no head coaching experience. In my opinion you hire him for his inside knowledge of how to run a program.
That's not the case anymore with Phil as AD

I agree i think part of the problem is JG cant read a defense pre snap. Could we not, maybe line up a little earlier in the play clock and have him check to the sidelines and let the coaches call the protection adjustments

All of this. I think he struggles mightily pre-snap and like you said, a way to fix that is to get to the LOS quicker and let the coaches call the adjustments. With that said I don't have a lot of confidence in Helton up to this point.

Warrior gets his hands on the ball, just doesn't haul it in. Making an INT would be a confidence boost for him. He's tackling better.

Agreed. Warrior has improved significantly this year from a physical standpoint as well as a leadership standpoint. He's actually showing some fire between plays and getting in other guys faces at times. With that said I don't think he's ever going to have much success hanging onto the ball.

Probably semantics but to me, getting it off the ground and consistent/steady program mean the same thing. I think our fans think the rebuild is a hockey stick - it bounces steadily up from the bottom with no downturns. I don’t think they can handle a few 8/9 win seasons followed by a 6 win season. They want 6, then 9, then 11 or more consistently to eternity.
Ok yea then I tend to agree. I think it’s possible he continues to get better and has us consistently winning come year 4/5 but definitely not a given. Only a few coaches out there are that good

Very few of the balls that have gone off Warrior's hands seemed to me to be "cinches" as interceptions. Most of them were good effort plays to even get a touch. It would be nice to see him begin to haul some in. I got to agree. I bet he would agree.

I like Warrior. He's got skills and he could be a special player for us. IDK about all the games, but I saw a ball Saturday that should have been an INT and there were two that I remember at Auburn. If a player with Warrior's potential gets two hands on the ball, he should be able to haul in some of them. He's close, and I think he's going to get one in the next few games. I hope it's Saturday.

Tennessee isn’t Kentucky and we aren’t in the 70’s/80’s. There’s no reason he shouldn’t get it off the ground in year 3 or 4. Even Butch did.

But I do think it’ll take around 7 years to build an actual consistent/steady program

As an example, it took Dabo, another first time head coach (who inherited a better roster in a weaker conference), about 4 years to get them really going good (10 win seasons, conference title appearances, big time bowls) and then they stalled at that level for a few seasons, and then by year 7 they were really elite (perennial national title contender).

I think it's reasonable to expect Coach Pruitt to have us very good by year 4-5 (10+ win seasons, division titles, big time bowls), and if he's truly a special/elite coach like we hope, then by year 7-8 we could be where Clemson is now (perennial national title contender).

No. Better resources, easier to recruit at, Viewed better nationally as a program, ect. It’s not close lol. This is the same argument the Mehlans used against him coming here, it’s not true
I don't disagree. Of course our ceiling is higher, but nationally we're seen as a Kentucky type program. Until we start winning, that's not going to change.

If Banks moves, it could be temporary. If we're going to be a power run offense, we'll need Banks back at RB next year. IDT Crouch will be at UT.
That just sounds like something you'd pull in high school. I like that up to a point, but I don't think you mess with a talent like that unless you're going to leave him over there.

Yea, even Saban went 9-3 after winning a national title at LSU. It’s rare for coaches to come in and have them elite consistently by year 4

Just about all these teams that make that jump have an elite QB. Exception being Bama great Defense, osu one game wander .

Don't matter how good of runner you are if you can't hang on to the ball . Way to many fumbles for the amount of carriers he has.

Nah, we’re viewed as a team that’s historically good and having a down period. Kentucky is viewed as a program that’s historically bad and having the best year they’ll have for a while. There’s a reason analysts look and laugh at our administrations because it takes complete incompetence to be at a program like UT and fail so bad so many times, it’s expected at places like UK so nobody cares. But when they have a good year it comes as a shock

How is osu a one game wonder? They have 4 top 5 finishes since Urb took over, 6 division titles, 2 conference titles, 2 playoffs. I hope Pruitt’s a one year wonder

Wrong...nationally we're seen as a program that has all the resources to win but just haven't been able to find the right coach. You're delusional if you think recruits see us on the same level as Kentucky.

And maybe your last sentence is why, maybe Helton just cant see it or just cant do it
