That could very well be true. I’d be okay seeing Banks at LB, but I think he’s our best true RB and want to see him get it right. But, the dude needs to be on field next year one way or another!Price wouldn't have said what he said unless he was told that info from inside the program. He wasn't sharing his opinion on what he would do. Guess we'll see
I don't think we have seen nearly enough of Banks to make that comparison. He does not have Chandler's elite speed or vision, from what I can tell and has shown no indication that he is capable of catching the ball out of the backfield. He also has had serious issues with ball security. While this is not a "talent," it is something that cannot be overlooked in deciding who should get RB touches.Banks is just as talented, if not more talented, than any RB we have on the roster. Well, I guess I should just say that he's every bit as talented, if not more talented, than Ty Chandler. Obviously, he needs to work on ball security, but IMO, he needs to stay at RB. We don't have the depth there to make changes like that, and we don't have a RB of equal or better talent in the recruiting class. Eric Gray would help, but I still don't think that justifies moving Banks.
I'm going to have to disagree with the analysis on the play where JG fumbled. They were lined up in man to man with 2 high safeties. The safety on the side that's blitzing starts to cheat over pre-snap, they then go man to man after the blitz with a single high safety and the safety that cheated over sliding into man to cover the receiver the blitzing corner left open. It should have been obvious to JG they were blitzing from that side when the safety started to cheat over. The idea that the offense couldn't have figured it out if they hadn't seen that blitz before on film is nonsense.
Go to the 13 second mark and look at how the safeties are lined up and see that the safety on the blitzing side is shifting into position to cover the UT receiver in man.
We are not stocked with real top 15 talent and anybody with a brain knows it. It is a roster full of badly overrated guysWere stocked with “top 15 recruiting” talent. If Pruitt can’t get 7-8 wins out of this team what can he sell? He must beat two or three more SEC teams or he’ll never get off the ground IMO.
He can't play RB if he continues to fumble. And that's clearly an issue he hasn't fixed. If he can fix it, great. If not, let's try him at LB makes sense to me.
That is not what he said or meant.I'm tired of these we will never be the same or be back posts. There will come a time whether it is in year 2,3 or 4 where Pruitt will come to the crossroads of taking the next step. Even Dooley and Butch reached that moment and neither could grasp it but it was there for the taking. Pruitt will get his shot at some point with HIS guys. We will see if he breaks through. I got a feeling he will
Hugh Freeze had Saban's number. One of the few that did.LSU’s quarterback situation is worse than ours. I fully expect him to cave-in under that Bama defense. LSUs only chance is to win with their defense getting a lot of turnovers and nothing I’ve seen from Alabama makes me think that will happen.
Pruitt seems like the kind of coach who walks the walk when saying he wants to get his best players on the field. If he can't trust Banks to carry the ball this fall might as well put him at LB and see in practice if he can do it.He’s played in like 4 games his entire collegiate career. He should be given more time to fix the problem. He doesn’t know the LB position. We don’t have good depth at RB. Sounds like a waste of time and talent, IMO.
That Price quote you posted seemed to insinuate he’ll be moving soon.Pruitt seems like the kind of coach who walks the walk when saying he wants to get his best players on the field. If he can't trust Banks to carry the ball this fall might as well put him at LB and see in practice if he can do it.
We're not good enough to have fumbles each game and still win them. But it's clear that Banks wants to hit someone and has the juice, let's see if he can play LB, a spot where we're not so great and maybe he can contribute.
I don’t disagree, we’re Kentucky until we’re not.
I think part of our protection issues are that even when a blitz is identified, the OL often struggles to communicate and get their assignments down. Even when we’ve got enough guys to pick up a blitz, we’re still seeing some guys miss assignments too often.
“He hasn’t fixed”. He’s a true freshman who’s barely played! Damn, Ron! Don’t ever get on a life raft for more than two hours...you’ll eat the other survivors cuz you haven’t been rescued yet!He can't play RB if he continues to fumble. And that's clearly an issue he hasn't fixed. If he can fix it, great. If not, let's try him at LB makes sense to me.
Seemed that way. He’s still gotta have a better feel in the pocket there regardless, though. No doubt, the line / protection is terrible. It seems to be more about missed assignments then just getting beat (although the latter certainly happens as well). Even on that blitz, it's possible JG saw it and knew they had the numbers to block it so he thought he'd have time to get the throw off.
