The QB Debate.... Post Bama (merged)

I don’t know who is better.

I do understand some other posters’ point.

JG is taking some hits because he’s behind a bad line. However some hits are because he’s not reading things quickly enough and getting the ball out of his hand.

How many are because of the line and how many are because he’s got to read things quicker, I don’t know.

I do believe he’s a tough dude not just because he takes the hits, but I don’t think it’s effected his play. By that I mean, he’s doing things because he’s afraid he’s going to get hit.

JG got hurt on the first sack when he fumbled. He was slow getting up and came off the field very slowly. This kid went back out there hurt and still put everything he had into the game. There should have been a targeting call on the play that put him out, and of course it wasn't called on the field or from the booth. Betuli was ejected for something far less last week. Chryst came in and did a very good job, but let's not make this a QB issue again.

If JG 100%, think he goes. If not, Chryst. The good news is we've finally got a couple of competent QB's. Think about it. This time last year, even when Dormady healthy, neither JG or Dormady were up to it. We've pretty much got the same team as last year, less some guys in NFL this year. Think you've got to credit Pruitt and staff for getting them ready. Really wish Kelly stayed back...

Hopefully he’s smart enough to figure it out on his own. We’ll see.
“Hopefully”? Why would you go out of your way to help a rival? Your board suck that much? 😏

If JG can go he’s the guy. I think he was frustrated by the inability to block Alabama in the first quarter. He took a shot every time he dropped back it felt like.

Chryst looked good, but it was a different game when he entered it. The OL settled down and the game was in hand. I do think we can win with Chryst, but JG is the better player.
You cannot get better by repeating the same mistake over and over. JG does not deserve to start against USC. This offense will only get better if Chryst starts. The game was different when Chryst came in because he can run an offense. JG cannot. The players seem to know it too.

LSU lost their top LB for the 1st half vs Alabama - same type of hit JG took -- refs and the booth donkey looked the other way

We are going to need them both to get us through these remaining games.

Gotta say Chryst has been money on passes, whether it's mop up time or Bama. Tim Priest noted on his quick release that when he plants his back foot, the ball is out. He's also a bigger guy who may not go down as easily as JG. May be worth letting him get his chance vs SC...again, especially if JG is banged up. Don't know how in the world he's going to be healthy. He's been beaten around pretty good the last 2 weeks. Odds are, we're still going to need both.

Ok I thought I saw another in the middle until I zoomed the picture
I just went back and watched to make sure I'm telling you right. It's really ugly. Mike basically just stands up and spies. DE loops inside and Carvin (75) takes a step to follow him inside instead of handing him off to the Center. By the time he identifies the blitz, the Safety has flown right by him and it's over. Just flat out abused.

No one hates JG. People hate loosing and are searching for answers. Me personally I want to play whoever gives us a chance to win. I see KC as more composed and the o seems to run pretty darn good with him. Some of you unwilling to even discuss the possibility that JG is still way off from where he needs to be come off as if you have an agenda. An agenda not based on abilities and what's best for the team.

I hope the staff decides on one QB. I dont like the idea of playing 2 other than in mop up duty. If the guy is KC, then so be it. But some of you need to just stop with assuming you know whats wrong with JG. You dont. None of you possess the credentials that come close to those of Pruitt and his staff.

So in the end, whatever the staff decides, I am good with and so should everyone else.

I've been in the JG corner from the beginning mainly because I hadn't seen KC play much. Today totally changed my mind after seeing KC's performance in one game (against the semi-pro team) and after watching JG for weeks. Sure JG had a terrific game last week but let's be honest, he accurately put up 5-7 jump balls that our WRs simply took away from Auburn. He could have easily incompleted all those passes or thrown a couple of pics.

JG is very tough and does not throw interceptions BUT he seems incapable of making quick decisions and apparently has no idea when a defense might blitz or where it might come from. The fact that he is tough does not mean he should stand there like a statue when 99% of all other QBs would see the obvious player bearing down on him. I mean the blind side killer sack shouldn't happen over and over every game. The OL is bad and he makes them look worse. KC came into the game today and actually managed all that so much better. Injury or not he needs to be the starter moving forward.
Agreed. KC should get his opportunity at USCe. Muschamp will have plenty of blitzes dialed up fo JG.

Its not about that. Its those that claim what they "see" is somehow different or superior to what the coaches see. Us fans get to see on Saturdays. The coaches see them all the time. Now which group is more likely to be right. A group of coaches who have big time experience in the toughest levels in CFB. Or, groups of fans who sit at home and try to disgnose football like they are experts from their living room?

Hates JG? Good grief. Grow up.
naw buddy. i dont hide from reality. and im grown....very much grown. the man just beat Auburn and threw for 300+. everyone sees the line gets him killed, yet he still battles. its still not enough. if you have a better answer to what it could be... WE ARE ALL EARS! otherwise........u aint saying much

One week JG is being proclaimed a star leading us to a win,at Auburn, the next some want him benched. Not everything that glitters is gold. Chryst definitely played well yesterday and is great to have as a backup / relief option, but JG is the starter.

I think it’s on both of them you have to tell your line that an extra man is coming or else they are looking for a different guy. Plus the CB shot through the gap quickly so if Carvin wasn’t told ahead of time he is already a step behind picking that blitz up. That being said Carvin played like poop.

how do we know he wasnt told? nobody was over him....nobody. he was looking at the lb who was in the opposite A gap. why is beyond me because:
A. that is the qbs front side
B. the rb was also aligned to that side
C. your biggest immediate threat is in the C gap, not the opposite A
D. its pass pro. u need to drop to pass block IMMEDIATELY....PERIOD.
E. If not immediate contact, your head needs to be on a swivel while getting depth

JG didn't beat Auburn, VOLS beat Auburn. Carry on.
