I've skipped about 30 pages but I already know what they're filled with...

So here's my glass half full take...

This was about 30% coaching and 70% execution. No matter what your game plan is, SIX TURNOVERS ruins any chance of executing anything with any kind of precision.

BVS is a very real thing and our team still has relapses because of it. JP said it himself, there's only so much that he can do if the players don't believe in themselves. Based on last night, I think they're on the road to recovery but, still susceptible to weak mentalities when things start going wrong.

We're not talented, not even close to enough. I'm not blaming this on Butch, he's gone, but his players WERE talented when they arrived but received substandard coaching and have regressed since their arrival.

We're not going bowling. It's just reality. UK and Vandy are, at this point, much better than we are. In fact, UK has an outside shot at the East this year--if they can pull a monumental upset over UGA.

THIS IS A GROUND UP REBUILD. Butch knows less about the game than Dooley but he was much better at the off field duties than Dools ever thought about. He was a used car salesman whose shortcomings caught up to him.

JP is a ball coach. He's got a huge task ahead of him in rebuilding this program. If he can assemble the talent, I feel like he can get the job done...but it won't be easy on the fanbase or him.

I think I’m going to unsubscribe from UT football podcasts, delete some bookmarks, check the scores on Saturday, and just follow offensive and defensive line recruiting. Unless we get some big ol’ boys with a mean streak, then it ain’t getting turned around, and I have sh@# it to do.

Poster in ff said he received a text from a friend who is a sports writer, saying some players have quit the team. No player names mentioned. Anyone hearing the same thing? I would assume one of the players is probably Sapp, who else might be gone?

I don’t even care and the rumor mill was Butch days. Kill the drama, IMO.

If anybody is quitting than it is what it is. Best to happen as soon as possible to facilitate roster turnover. There are some OL and defensive guys that need to find opportunities elsewhere. Wish them all the best, but it would probably be better for all involved if certain players moved on before the end of the year.

Kind of where I am. I’m still a fan through and though, but especially over the next month if not until the end of the year, I’m just going to follow marginally while I do other more constructive things. I got entirely too upset last night and I was downing alcohol like it was going out of style. It’s just not healthy and I have better things to do.

I was on the fence about going to a game this year but that is definitely out. If a game turns competitive, great, I might tune into watch. Other than that it’s strictly radio while I do yard work, run errands, and spend more time with my kid.

A bunch of folks need to go in order to sign a full class. The sooner the better, imo, will bring the rest of the team closer together.
Wished they would have quit in the spring. I remember that being touted as a positive that no one did.
Maybe put a few VFLs on scholarship to finish the year or PWOs who deserve it.

Pretty much.

Week after week, we hear how players miss assignments. It appears to be this much more than scheme.

I know the OL makes it really difficult but Helton has to do better. Quicker throws, move the pocket, bootleg, creative screens, running backs more involved in the passing game, counters...
Most important thing to me is calling plays such that the defense doesn’t know what’s coming every play and can’t pin their ears back and come after us. He should be protecting the OL in that manner. Worst thing you can do when you have a shaky OL is be so predictable you wind up in 3rd and long the whole game because the other team knew you were running on the first two downs.

Whether by his own design or under Pruitt’s direction, Helton has been making it easy for the other team.

Nobody quit, not even sure Sapp had.. Someone mistakenly thought that this tweet meant that players had quit the team. It's about players not playing hard in the game.

I am always one to defend the players on this topic and I agree with you. However there were a few plays were it was clear the players "quit" on that play. The TD to start the second half was clearly a play the defend had no interest in playing

I just keep coming back to Kirby. Kirby inherited a 10 win team and a top 5 roster, and he went 7-5 with a loss to a terrible Vandy team at home on homecoming in his first season.

Pruitt’s situation is much much worse. We shouldn’t be surprised at the first year struggles. He’ll get his culture installed by next year. We won’t win like kirby in year 2 because we don’t have the talent. But I’m still a believer that year 3, as long as he recruits we’ll, could be a big year.
I agree. I'll expect this thing to be pretty much turned around by year three. We need to make solid strives between year one and two though. So tired of saying that.

This is bullcrap, first of all I said the team has a lot of "coach killers" so you started off wrong. We as fans are just unobservant idiots that like to scapegoat coaches, but have no real impact on the way the team plays. These guys are all proven teachers of the game. If these players are still this fundamentally stupid, it is not on these coaches.

You guys wanna gripe about play calling, what play can you call that works consistently when your OL is full of guys that can't block, or your guys give the ball up?

What defense can you call that looks good when your guys get little push, can't tackle and bust assignments?

It is fundamental execution that is killing this team, and it is these players that are brain farting it up out there despite having great fundamental coaches...

So..like I said..the TEAM is full of coach killers...guys that either don't care enough to focus on learning, or are just too football stupid to learn.
I partially agree with you but like I said earlier, the OC absolutely can call plays to help a shaky OL out. We have just refused for whatever reason.

DE (think it was Butler) was being held onto like no tomorrow on that play.

I know it’s a moot point and all and we didn’t play well enough to win anyway, but the officiating was the worst I’ve seen in a long time last night. How many PIs or defensive holding penalties did they miss that would have moved the chains for us? 5-6?
That hold was right out in the open too. I understand missing those interior holds, they can be hard to spot, but right out in the open like that? Smh

Teennessee football is like a bad relationship. The beginning of the ride was great, and then you realize it’s been eleven years and you’re living in a house that’s too big, full of sh!t you don’t need, and cats that you hate. Your only options are to stick it out and continue the misery, or start all over again with while paying the buyout/alimony.

I want to punch Butch Jones in the face, tell Brent Hubbs and Wes Rucker to get real jobs like the rest of us because their analysis based on 10 minutes of practice a day is worthless, and start a gofundme to help the bagmen go find us some lineman who aren’t scared of the weight room and aren’t soft as f@#k.

I guess you think being ultra predictable is good for an OC with a shaky line....

Been quiet on here today but I keep coming back to this thinking especially after watching the Titans the last 2 weeks.

Imo Pruitt is the one setting the tone/plan for the offense. He feels the only way we can win is with games just like the Titans have played the last two weekends.

Now with that said it's hard to take the DC mind out of a some coaches imo. They always want to play defensive type games.
If that's the case with pruitt he very likely is putting handcuffs on Helton forcing a run , run, predictable 3rd down pass type plan that shortens the game.

Now I am not saying that plan isn't the thing to do. In fact I think that was needed against WV but it can't be the plan every week like it has been the first 4 weeks.
