I think jg's problem is that he knows he can make the throws but they very rarely give him the opportunity to make the throws that when he gets the chance he waits for the deep ball. Waiting for his receivers to break away from coverage.

The onside kick was a great call and a great kick. We just played it wrong. We had three guys all going for the ball. If one of them takes their guy out like you’re supposed to... then one of our guys is 1000% recovering.

Kirby recruited top 3, Saban number 1 the first full class. Unfortunately we will not do that here. But hopefully we are still able to land the top guys we are after. We have to if we want to be good again. Guys want us to win, but we can't win without talent. I hope Pruitt can sell that.

That's the thing. I'm not sure we can consistently get top 5-10 classes to be competitive anymore. We are going to be battling it our for 2nd in the SEC east for the foreseeable future.

I completely agree. You can go back and check my posts from the start of the search. I wanted Fisher bad. I have friends at FSU who said he was miserable. Offer him 8+ million dollars (i know texas am offered 10) and make him say no.

And when he says no... go to David Shaw and offer him 8+ million. And if he says no go to Chris Peterson and offer him 8+?million dollars.

Bama could pay nick savan 20 million dollars and he would still be under paid based on the revenu his program creates.

And I'm not convinced it gets any better.

I still believe Pruitt is the guy. Watching the post game presser made me feel a lot better. Guy knows football, we just suck. Sorry, but its the truth. We are very low on talent and our guys, for whatever reason, couldn't hold onto the football tonight. In reality, that's a close game, maybe we lose by a score, but we turned the dang ball over 7 times, 3 or 4 inside the 20 yard line. Hard to blame the coaches to much for that. That said, I was disappointed with the play calling and hope we do better there. But the fact is, if we're going to be better, we're going to have to recruit better. Kirby recruited top 3, Saban number 1 the first full class. Unfortunately we will not do that here. But hopefully we are still able to land the top guys we are after. We have to if we want to be good again. Guys want us to win, but we can't win without talent. I hope Pruitt can sell that.

After 1 season, we cant even be thinking pruitt is the problem. Butch left us in a much worse situation than most every one anticipated. We are bad. Very bad. Our ol is atrocious and our de dont get any pressure at all. That allows even a terrible team like florida a ton of time to throw the ball. Our dbs can only guard for so long before their coverage breaks down. Pruitt said something in the presser that i told my wife on the way home, when we run the ball we get driven backward, when our opponent runs the ball, they fall forward. The play calling is terrible. I truly thought we just werent showing anything and that we would open it up this game but i was wrong. Run on 1st, 2nd and pass on a long 3rd down play. Not to hard for anyone to predict. I posted it earlier but we ran the ball 26 out of the (i believe) 30 first downs we had in the game. Thats nearly 87% of the time we run on first down. We need to start somewhere and play calling is a good start along with ball protection.

The only thing giving me any hope is that Saban and Smart both sucked in their first years with more talent, I dont think itd fair to try and decide of he is the guy in year 1

I didn't say that to crow about being right...I hate this..I absolutely hate it with every fiber of my being..and I wish you and every other optimist on this board was right bout the team, and I was wrong. This is gut wrenching and like some other guys have said, I don't want to care, and I hate that I'm feeling that way. This program is such a dangerous position...How much more can we take? I love the Vols...but I hate this neverending suck.

We rolled the pocket all the time, constant dump offs, quick releases, etc. i think they are a lot of similarities in our offensive personnel.

Thing is, I don't know what their philosophy is. Is it to try to adapt to who they have? Or is Pruitt basically trying to drill in a specific offense, and expecting the players to just adapt, and taking his lumps in the meantime?
