Ask me your questions about WVU...

It should be a fun game and I’ll give the edge to them but there’s absolutely no way WVU is a playoff team. Anyone who says that simply has no idea what they’re talking about.

Talking season, when your team can be as good as you say it is. 954 future NFL players on one team, with the baddest QB to ever fling la ole pigskin leading the charge.

During talking season WV is a NC contender and UT isn't worth lacing up your guys' cleats. He!!, what are we ranked, 74th?

I guess we will see what we have here in the real world very soon. Btw, tell little Willy to look out for that Tuttle fella. I got a feeling he really wants to meet him.

Something tells me that you are going to be asking a lot of unanswerable questions about your team after this game.....

You can comeback and eat crow do what you need to do, you may have the best team in the history of WVU, but it may not be good enough to win this game...

It's a huge problem. The days of king coal are gone... but WV is so married to coal severance taxes that everything is dependent upon it. Southern WV is like a third world country. But, on the other hand, if you enjoy the outdoors and want to retire to a beautiful place with a low crime rate and low property taxes WV is it. I just signed a contract to buy a house on 8 acres of land for an absurdly low price.

If you want that "upgraded hunting cabin" just check the obits in southern WV.

Fact: There are four deer for every person in WV.

Third World Poverty isn't leagues worse than american poverty. we have chances and opportunities some can never imagine. Some countries the police shoot instead of arrest, thats if the drug cartel doesnt kidnap and extort you or your children for peanuts.

Low crime rate, among crimes that get reported.

I gotta jump in here- I read the whole thread. UT is going to pound the ball into WVU like a New Orleans whore. I honestly think UT will flat demolish WVU. They are going to run, run, run, and then run some more. By half time, WVU will be beaten to holy hell. Now, that said, I'm sure WVU will get some points with their QB (until he gets killed), but this has big boy vs. not so big boy football written all over it.

You're right. But there could be a LOT more to it than that. UT has talent and could be a dangerous passing attack too.

If...if... Guarantano has developed mentally and emotionally from last year... this is going to be a fun O to watch. Maybe I'm delusional but I have convinced myself that the change in scheme, techniques, and coaching for the OL will make a dramatic difference... along with a HC that knows how to keep more players healthy. Unless something changes, every player projected in UT's OL 2 deep will be available for the first game. I don't think that ever happened under Jones. From the first game on, it just got worse.

TJ, here are some scraps to chew on. SC’s current roster will put more players in the NFL than UT’s by a good bit, in spite of all your blustering about how talented your roster is based upon HS rankings. And before you pop off, it’s almost certainly true.

Now I realize I am on a rival’s board and out of place for saying that here, but with full apologies to any hurt feelings it is what it is.
Really? There are about 9 Vols who could potentially be in the draft next spring. You're not much more educated than that WVU fan on UT's roster.

WVU puts its share in the NFL. But there's never been this many NFL caliber kids on the same roster at once... the difference may be they have experience as well as talent.

Several of these kids could have easily went into the NFL last year. They elected to return because they believe they can accomplish something special.

This team has vibe about it. It may be overrated but every one of them has bought into the notion that this is their year. They believe in each other. Their coaches believe in them. They've pushed each other to get better all summer with one goal in mind - win the Big 12.

They are stronger, bigger and faster than any team in the history of WVU.

I'm not going to bet against them.
You need to take the homerism down a peg. Your team went 7-6 last year. They lack depth and outside of a good passing attack, which is one QB injury from being trash, there was nothing to brag about last year for WV. Your team "loaded with NFL talent" didn't beat a single team that was really worth a damn.
I smelled your homerism from your first post and you have outted yourself to everyone from then on. The 3-3-5 is a joke and the only things we have to do to win is to get pressure on the QB and run which will wear out your limited depth and keep your offense off the field. That is it.
WV is not a good running team, they are mess on defense due to the 3-3-5 being easily exploited, and again outside of your QB, WV does not have a big edge, if any, at any position.

Dools, Kiff, and Botch seemed to kill it in these openers. As ive said, if we win...awesome. But, I'll take a loss if it means a win over Florida or Alabama and developing talent as well as experience later in the season. Seems like last 6-,7-8 years we've regressed as the year season went by. Some of it is depth, some injuries, some is we havent had a coach since Kiffshit.

I dont think we'll be a playoff team, but definitely a legit top 15 team. Defense will be much improved, and our offense is easily going to average 40+ per game

Maybe, maybe not.

If WV is way overrated and UT is a much better and a more physical team than the "experts" think, I believe you are exactly right.

If WV IS what most everybody thinks they are, then they are a top 10 team. It would be crazy to think we wouldn't have to throw everything we had just to hang if that's the case.

It all depends on what this UT team really is, what CJP can do with them in 1 off season, and if WV is the real deal or not. Either way we need to out physical them in the trenches and play keep away while we keep constant heat on Will Grier when they do get the ball.
Most everybody thought we were going to be good last year as well ..... Then 4 - 8 happened.....

W Va may beat us but I am definitely positive they are not going to the College Football playoff. They may have a terrific team but they do not want any part of Bama or Clemson or Georgia.

I would probably agree with you, but I remember a couple Sugar and Orange Bowls in in the last few years where people said WVU wanted no part of Georgia or Clemson.

WVU beat both, including a 70-33 beat down of Clemson. Ya never know.

We'll lose a couple games along the way this year.

Who is SC anyways and what have they won. A sportsmanship award, cause there is nothing in the record books.

Pat White was a great QB but not the best passer. That 2006-2007 WVU team had three superstars.. but this team is loaded. Sills isn't the best WR on the team... both TJ Simmons and Marcus Simms are better. Javoni Haskins transfered to WV from Miami. He's supposedly cut from the same cloth as former TTU TE Jace Amaro.

McKoy isn't nearly as good as Slaton. But Leddie Brown may be.

WVU's 2018 offensive depth chart has 10 kids who will likely play on Sundays... Grier, McKoy, Sills, Jennings, Simmons, Simms, Haskins, Cadjuste, McKivitz, and Hardy. On defense they have about 6 who will be in the NFL: Dante Stills, Robinson, Bigelow, Long, Askew-Henry and Kenny Robinson.

I don't recall WVU ever having that much NFL talent on the roster at the same time.

That's crazy talk. Sills is a 1st team all american and biletnikoff finalist for a reason. He's a Jordy Nelson clone. Gary Jennings is easily better than Simms too.

Simms is a 4.3 guy, but nothing special outside of his speed.

We've also never seen Simmons take a real college football snap, so we should pump the brakes on him. Coaches are bragging on him though.

Coaches are bragging on him though.
That's an interesting difference between UT's staff and the WVU staff... and UT's last staff for that matter. Pruitt and his guys aren't in awe of their own players. Praise is very muted and almost always followed with a "but" and what needs to be improved. That was the case even when Pruitt was talking about Trey Smith.

Y’all didn’t score 40 on any team that had a pulse last year.
