Josh Dobbs (merged)

They might waive him in hopes of putting him on the practice squad. But in that case, a suitor could spend a draft pick without giving it to the Steelers. Either way, it'll be tough to find a trade partner.

Either way it happens, I don't see Dobbs being on the Steelers' offense. Look for the Rams, Dolphins, or the Bills now that AJ Mccaron.

Peterman vs Dobbs again will be hilarious.

His stats were good, but both touchdown passes would have been Int's if the receiver didn't do one heck of a job at taking it from the defender.

Just reading VOL nation comments, and thought it was a lame reason to hate someone: A Vols fan wishes the greatest success on a truly excellent human and amazing quarterback for UT. Wow, I sure do hate him.
If you think people aren't the biggest fans of D4H simply because he wants a Vol to do well in the NFL, you clearly aren't paying attention.

I seriously doubt very many people on this board truly hate D4H. I know I dont. Its just his insane, lavish and outlandish claims that he has been posting for the last couple of years that gets on peoples nerves. Coupled with the fact that he openly trashed Dobbs, called him garbage and then admitted that he only watches UT when we are good. Sorry but he is no Vol fan. He is primarily a Dobbs fan.

Most on here really like Dobbs and wish him success in the NFL. But we also realize that in our opinions, he just doesnt have it to become a starter. Much less the greatest NFL player of all time. If D4H would just set his oredictions within the confines of reality, he would be fine. Oh and he thinks his ability to spot talent rivals almost every college coach, NFL scout and GM. Taking all this into account, its easy to see why he gets the negativity he does. Its rightly deserved.
Did anyone enjoy UT last year? I am a life long fan, and that was the most horrible year I can recall. As for D4H, we would miss him if he left. He's a VN classic.

Congrats on coming in at the end of a very long trollish conversation with him and making a judgement.

Then ask the one you suddenly feel the need to defend why he picked them to go undefeated and win the NC and was condescending to anyone who tried to tell him otherwise.

12-18
195 passing yards
2 pass TDs

in just 2 quarters of action.

If those were Rudolph or Landry Jones numbers and Dobbs put up Mason's stat line, you guys would be posting it incessantly. But because it was Dobbs that put up the great stat line while Rudolph's line was pure trash, its on me to be the first to post it today.

I'm the guy who doesn't care about preseason stat lines. Why do I have to be the first to post those stats 12 hours after the game ended? Why didn't one of you stat geeks post it? Cause I remember last year you guys enjoyed posting Josh's stat line when he struggled. But now when the stats look good, you guys ignore and avoid them.

Now tell me again you ain't rooting against Dobbs?

So your logic is, Josh having a good half of play in a meaningless preseason game is huge and proves that he’s a future great and future NFL HOFer......but Joey Bosa winning Nfl defensive rookie of the year despite playing only 12 games...... and setting an all-time NFL record for most sacks in Nfl history in his first 20 REGULAR SEASON games means nothing. PURE D4H!

Also, how’s Robert Nkemdiche’s career panning out? Spoiler alert....two years in the nfl, 17 games played, 4 solo tackes, still looking for that first career sack. Lol.

Why would a former UT QB getting a shout out on national TV get you mad?

You should be happy that Dobbs is getting love from the national media. Not only cause he's a great kid who played his heart out for Tennessee. But also because having a Tennessee QB succeed in the NFL would be great for recruiting.

I want Dobbs to ball out too. He deserves any and all success he gets. However, his success has zero to do with recruiting at UT. That staff is gone. Kids aren't going to be swayed to come to UT because of Dobbs possibly starting a game because the starter got hurt. Be real for once.

No. I provided those stats for mindless folks like you who can't tell whether someone played good or bad without looking at a box score. I knew Dobbs would be a future NFL great from the first time I saw him play in 2014 against Alabama.

What I look for in preseason games is different than ya'll. I'm looking more at how the player looks and moves than the results of his play or the game. Remember last year when I predicted Deshaun Watson would be Rookie of the Year after his first preseason game because I liked the way he looked. So while Dobbs preseason numbers look nice, they are IRRELEVANT to my evaluation. What I liked the most from Dobbs against the Packers was how he looked physically. He looked tall. He looked athletic. When he ran, he looked like he was gliding on the field. His passes had a noticeable zip on them. The uniform looked fresh on him. His pads were sleek. Even the glove looks good with the white jerseys on. Plus you could see his eyes through the visor and he had the same look in his eyes that Tom Brady has when playing in big games. That's how I know greatness is coming.

So sit back. Relax. And try your best to enjoy what should be the start of the most LEGENDARY career in NFL history this fall.

So when is the Josh Dobbs stalking case a la Erin Andrews going to break with D4H as the perp?

“Authorities say the perpetrator was found with night vision goggles, rope , a bag of lime and was listening to the song ‘Stan’ by Eminem on repeat and shaving his eyebrows. Luckily Joshu Dobbs was unharmed.”

Whenever he’s banned, there’s so much more time for activities! Air smells better...food tastes better!

Hey Butchna! I come into this thread to read about Dobbs chances in NFL and usually find people discrediting Dobbs and telling D4H how much greater somebody else is, because apparently he thinks too highly of him. (Tell me where i'm wrong?) Frankly, I don't care anything about Mason Rudolph, while Dobbs is probably my second favorite Vol ever. He's having a great preseason, and I am rooting for him to get a chance to show that he might be a great quarterback for somebody. We all know he is a gamer. Butch Jones would have been fired years ago if it wasn't for him, and we know he was reluctant to give him a chance. NFL gave Johnny Manziel all kinds of chances, so why not Dobbs?

Manziel was a first rounder drafted by a team in dire need of a starting QB. Dobbs is a fourth rounder drafted by a team with a franchise quarterback in place. Other than that glaring reality, he’s had every realistic chance to carve himself a role and future opportunity. When players get on this stage, what they did in college goes out the window. Everybody had some smiley faces and gold stars...that’s why they’re even in a camp. As far as what YOUR motivation is in this thread? Grudenator started it to call out D4H for past sins, so your participation in it is to either join in the stoning or to defend the witch...not fact gathering.

For every Manning, there is a Manziel or Ryan Leaf. Some good late round quarterbacks in NFL. Edit: After reading the first page of this thread, I'm definitely "defending the witch"...

I’m aware of the history. Used it as examples in other conversations. For this one, Manziel and Dobbs are their own separate conversations...different expectations and different team situations altogether. You didn’t state an alternate narrative...just keeping it on point. The Steelers as an organization don’t blab their laundry so any speculation about Dobbs place in it isn’t from that source. The only thing for certain is they don’t do things willy nilly. If they release Dobbs it won’t be because of drawn straws and if they keep him, he earned it. And water is wet. 😉

Complete BS. And no, neither I nor anybody else recalls you predicting anything for Watson last year after you constantly dogged him as a “poor man’s Josh Dobbs”. Dear God.

Fact is, you have neither any idea what you’re looking for or what you’re looking at when watching a football player or a football game.

Also, what you do, consistently, time and time again, is dismiss player statistics when they don’t favor your argument and tout them, use them for evidence when you believe it furthers your point. I and others have pointed out, called you out on your hypocrisy here countless times.

Speaking of statistics.....

Chad Kelly at Denver, who is now at least the 2nd string QB at this point.....21-30, 267 yards, 3tds, 1 int, 8.9 yards per attempt, 117 rating.

Lol. But of course, nothing but crickets from you here.
