actually in that case all Dobbs has to beat out is Landry Jones (not that hard) I would bet Landry makes more than him and has had more time to "prove" himself
Landry Jones may be odd QB out in Steelers' QB room

Thursday night's preseason game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers is being billed as
Josh Dobbs vs.
Mason Rudolph for the job as Pittsburgh's No. 3 quarterback heading into the 2018 regular season. That's not the case; Rudolph is a lock to make the 53-man roster and will most likely be the team's No. 3 quarterback during his rookie season. The real competition is between Dobbs and Landry Jones for a spot on Pittsburgh's depth chart.
"People are looking at Mason Rudolph and Josh Dobbs as a battle for the third spot, and I don’t," Steel City Insider's Jim Wexell told 247Sports this week. "I think Mason’s got the third spot as a lock. So the only question is the two spot. So Dobbs gets a full half with the first team [Thursday night], and I think this is his chance."
While he doesn't want to entirely rule out his future as a potential NFL starter, Wexell believes that Dobbs would be an ideal backup for Rudolph whenever Rudolph is given the reins as Pittsburgh's starting quarterback.
"This is the future I see: I think [Dobbs] would be a spectacular backup with the perfect mentality to do that job for years, like Landry does now," Wexell said. "I just think Dobbs is more aggressive as a personality force. But Landry is doing a better job right now as a quarterback."
