Josh Dobbs (merged)

I might put it up for vote.

If Josh Dobbs starts a playoff game this season, D4H gives me a new avatar, which I keep for the next year.

If Dobbs does not start a playoff game, then I give a new avatar to D4H, and he keeps it for the next year.

Pretty simple. Care to wager a guess as to how he'll welch in about 5 months?
Ha, no I don't. You already got found your fish that will bite on a hook without a worm. I will pass since I am sure he will take a hiatus from Volnation if not flatout add you to the ignore list then pretend it never happened.

Why would anyone trade for him? He's going likely going to be released because the Steelers aren't keeping 4 QBs.
actually in that case all Dobbs has to beat out is Landry Jones (not that hard) I would bet Landry makes more than him and has had more time to "prove" himself Landry Jones may be odd QB out in Steelers' QB room

from the article

Thursday night's preseason game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers is being billed as Josh Dobbs vs. Mason Rudolph for the job as Pittsburgh's No. 3 quarterback heading into the 2018 regular season. That's not the case; Rudolph is a lock to make the 53-man roster and will most likely be the team's No. 3 quarterback during his rookie season. The real competition is between Dobbs and Landry Jones for a spot on Pittsburgh's depth chart.
"People are looking at Mason Rudolph and Josh Dobbs as a battle for the third spot, and I don’t," Steel City Insider's Jim Wexell told 247Sports this week. "I think Mason’s got the third spot as a lock. So the only question is the two spot. So Dobbs gets a full half with the first team [Thursday night], and I think this is his chance."
While he doesn't want to entirely rule out his future as a potential NFL starter, Wexell believes that Dobbs would be an ideal backup for Rudolph whenever Rudolph is given the reins as Pittsburgh's starting quarterback.
"This is the future I see: I think [Dobbs] would be a spectacular backup with the perfect mentality to do that job for years, like Landry does now," Wexell said. "I just think Dobbs is more aggressive as a personality force. But Landry is doing a better job right now as a quarterback."

Yes, they sat Jones last night because he's in a fierce battle with Dobbs for the backup spot. That makes total sense.

It does. The ones only play the first quarter or two. Dobbs played with them this game. Jones probably does next. That way you compare them with the same personnel around them.

I love how you guys are now becoming Mason Rudolph fans. LOL. The dude is HOT TRASH. He's Trent Edwards 2.0. He'll never be anything more than a backup.

Josh Dobbs = Randall Cunningham meets Warren Moon

He'll go down as the greatest player in NFL history.

Greatest player in NFL history? This is why people cannot possibly take you seriously.

Put up or shut up. If you just keep repeating this and do nothing to back up your claim, it is 100% meaningless. Don't post some BS about putting up your "reputation", your reputation is garbage here.

And this crap is why you are hated. You can't just say "Dobbs will be a starter in the NFL one day" or "Dobbs will stick around", you have to go 100% full hyperbole.
So what if he thinks he'll be the greatest? It's his opinion, why do you hate him for that? I hope he's right. GO Dobbs.

First of all, you obviously didn't watch the game, because Dobbs didn't play with the ones.

Second, no, it doesn't make sense. If Jones were still having to prove himself, he would have played. As I told D4H, if you think about it, it's pretty simple why he didn't play. I'll give you a hint, it had to do with Ben having a concussion scare.

Steelers are going to be in a no-win situation of their own making.

One thing Dobbs has been good at in preseason games (going back to the end of last year’s preseason), is getting his team in the end zone.

If Dobbs finishes the preseason strong, I would cut Jones and keep the young QBs. If Ben goes down, the Steelers aren’t winning the Super Bowl with Jones at QB. Better to take your chances with the youngsters.

They might waive him in hopes of putting him on the practice squad. But in that case, a suitor could spend a draft pick without giving it to the Steelers. Either way, it'll be tough to find a trade partner.
Reading through tthe Steeler's forums many just want to keep Dobb's and let L.Jones go but Steelers still owe him $2 mil. So they are in a trap of sorts and M.Rudolph certainly didn't look like the man last night. Rumor is they want to put Dobbs on waivers hoping no one claims him but there's no guarantee some team won't snatch him up. If no one does claim Dobbs then he'll likely finish this year on steelers practice squad and move back to the regular roster when Jones is let go next year. That's the general feeling in Pittsburg and they feel it's highly likely that a few coaches will grab Dobbs ASAP if he becomes available.

Of course Dobbs will be claimed immediately if they release him. There are a lot of awful QBs in the NFL right now.

If the Steelers are stupid enough to waive him, the NFL better hope he doesn't go to the Saints and Sean Payton. That's one coach I know would get the most out of Dobbs.

So you are giving up on Dobbs leading the Steelers to a Super Bowl championship in the 2018 season? Does that mean Bamawriter has won the avatar replacement bet since he won't be starting in a playoff game for the Steelers?

The bet allows for Dobbs to start a playoff game for any team.

Just reading VOL nation comments, and thought it was a lame reason to hate someone: A Vols fan wishes the greatest success on a truly excellent human and amazing quarterback for UT. Wow, I sure do hate him.

I seriously doubt very many people on this board truly hate D4H. I know I dont. Its just his insane, lavish and outlandish claims that he has been posting for the last couple of years that gets on peoples nerves. Coupled with the fact that he openly trashed Dobbs, called him garbage and then admitted that he only watches UT when we are good. Sorry but he is no Vol fan. He is primarily a Dobbs fan.

Most on here really like Dobbs and wish him success in the NFL. But we also realize that in our opinions, he just doesnt have it to become a starter. Much less the greatest NFL player of all time. If D4H would just set his oredictions within the confines of reality, he would be fine. Oh and he thinks his ability to spot talent rivals almost every college coach, NFL scout and GM. Taking all this into account, its easy to see why he gets the negativity he does. Its rightly deserved.

I could see him in KC
