LOL - the excuses were OK at the very beginning but of course they got old. I think he was really insecure (he should have been) in 2016 and 2017. We all love Pruitt now but I guarantee he makes some in response to early losses. You couldn't tell how bad of a coach Butch was in 2013, come on now. He took a 5-7 (2-6) team from the previous year and went 5-7 (2-6). There was improvement in 2014, and by 2015 he had us looking like we were "almost" a good team. That was a pretty good performance after 3 seasons, and he really had improved the roster. 2016 was his time to make a move, especially considering how weak the East was.
I gave up on Butch after the South Carolina game in 2016. There were some cracks in his facade that had emerged before that, but it was after that game I became convinced that he wasn't a great coach. Not that he should be fired at that point, just that he probably wasn't going to get us where we wanted to go.
