As I've already said several times, we don't know if these offers are committable. When I look at his offer list on different sites, and see BC, the Charlotte 49ers, Liberty, and Cincinatti at the top, that tells me he's not a highly sought after recruit. Not in this league anyway.

Idk if he's trolling, but it appears he has no expertise and little common sense in assessing player talent. He simply looks at star rankings and offers.

Pruitt and his staff's evaluations are 10 times more important than those of recruiting sites. From what I've seen reported about Mauer, he looks like an excellent QB prospect. Great pickup, imo.

Let it play out chief. Im not overly confident in this guy either but we have no reason to doubt the coaching staff yet. This year's QB class is a bit weak as others have said!

This kid is an elite 11 QB...high 3* on two sites and a 4* on another...he lit it up at our camp...no reason to believe he won’t continue to rise in the rankings...

Since when do these attributes constitute a “project”?

Is the Elite 11 offer a commitable offer tho??????

Don't see where I've been "smacked down" by anyone. You should be used to it yourself however since I've made a habit of taking you to task on here. Bottom line here is, I'm not excited about this commit. People then proceed to attack because I don't want to pretend like this kid is Joe Willy Namath.

Another thing..as much as people hype up great mechanics, the fact is a lot of times to make a play at QB there is no way to use "proper mechanics"..this kid has a wicked sidearm with velocity. Being able to improvise is more important than mechanics to me.

Another thing occurred to me..I don't think Helton and Pruitt are looking for the "game managers" everybody has said they are..From studying Shrout, Maurer and Taulia it appears to me that they are looking for tough improvising playmakers.

Exactly. He didn’t come in here and just say he didn’t care for the pickup, he started off by mocking others who were excited. He just wants to get a rise out of people, and would quickly lose interest if people stopped feeding into his schtick.

I really like this pickup. He's accurate and has a good arm. Quarterback Recruiting rankings don't necessarily translate to NFL talent.

Chief is entitled to his opinion as well as the sunshine pumpers. Fact is you have to win games before the "Elite" 4/5 stars are going to commit to the Vols. Hopefully this guy is a diamond in the rough and real football coaches can develop him. Not a Litaker imo

Diamond in the rough? He went and earned Elite 11 and then went to camp at UT, got offer, camped at Ohio State, got offer. This diamond is sitting just off the green. It's not in the rough.

Was told he really impressed the Tennessee staff when he threw for them last week. Kid has had a good off-season and should go to another level as a senior. Was solid at Elite11, threw it well enough to get offered at Ohio State on Friday too.
