We just disagree. A 4-8 that played to the best of their ability and had no injuries to key players is not the same as a team full of talented kids that was capable of 7 or 8 wins and ended up at 4-8 because of injuries and lack of leadership.

It's the difference between a Corvette with a couple of bad plug wires vs a worn out Camaro. Lap time may be the same, but that's where the similarity ends.

Good point.

Because you’re wrong. McBride played against USM, who is bad, and Mizzou who was also bad. JG played against better competition with the same 💩y circumstances and did better. Pretty clear to me who’s better.

I'm wrong to say you shouldn't write off a Freshman QB after 2 unexpected games because you said so?

Hope you're not old enough for prostate exams because they'll never get a finger up there with your head in the way 😂

Chryst Is better than people want to give him credit for. Have to take last yr with a grain of salt playing in the ACL less than half a yr removed. Same as JG have to take with a grain of salt with the crap offense.

Both were highly rated so potential is there for both of they seize it and are coached right.

I know Shaw is a good coach but what QB outside of luck has he made look good despite so many highly ranked QBs? Luck was a harbuagh inherit too.

At the moment I'm basically expecting a tougher bigger version of Dormady but in a pro style system from Chryst.

watch us argue about Chryst and JG then Shrout pulls a Tom Brady or some ish lol

I have no idea what this "grain of salt" nomenclature you're repeatedly using refers to. Is it similar to a grade of slaw?

Obviously hypothetical here but if I could guarantee you that Chryst Starts and we go 8-4, but JG transfers would you take it?

Tough call because that leaves with Will McBride (not sure if he is SEC caliber or not), unproven untested BY Shrout, and whoever we sign this year. I'd rather roll the dice with JG as the starter and risk 6-6 or 7-5 and slight improvement next year to 8-4 or 9-3.

😂😂that was good.

But really McBride is bad. I’ve made my case why and I’ve said why I think JG is going to be a good one. We’ll just have to wait and see

Can we stop this narrative that we aren't a talented football team? Bituli, Kirkland, Kongbo, TKjr, Warrior, Taylor, Tuttle. Defense will be a strength this year. Kirkland and Bituli in the middle should be scary if DK comes back and plays like he did before.

Chandler is stout. I thought he was better than JK last year. Jennings is back, natural born playmaker with that it factor. Callaway will ball out in a vertical oriented passing game.

Sure we have question marks, corner play will be critical.

OL play will be critical, but getting Kennedy and likely Trey back should alleviate a lot of those concerns.

We have three glaring question marks. QB, CB, and OL. Get average play in those three positions and we're a really good football team.

JG or Chryst lives up to potential and all bets are off.

Stoked to see Bituli and Taylor on defense. I am still a little worried about our pass rush, though.. we really need to ratchet it up this year with all the talent we have. Maybe it's just that it was the spring game, but I didn't see a whole lot of disruption at or behind the LOS in April.

OL has to take a step forward.. they have a competent OL coach now, no just some guy who made a good impression because he can remember names. Hall is trying to make some noise this year, and I think it's the worst kept secret that Trey Smith will be back. If we can get the most out of Drew Richmond, we'll actually have a somewhat functional offense. And adding Kennedy probably made me a 5-7 guy to a 6-6 or maybe 7-5 guy.

Alontae looked pretty decent at CB in the O&W game and could be dependable after we get through the gauntlet and start facing lesser talent. Dunno about the rest of the secondary, TKJr included. I like TK, great kid, but he lost a step from his freshman/sophomore years-- injuries will do that. Same with Abernathy. I really hope Marquill Osborne can live up to his recruiting rankings the next couple years.

I think we're in a decent spot regardless of who wins the QB job. I hope it's JG, but you gotta trust the staff.

This should be a pretty fun year.

Stop thinking short term. It would be a disaster to go 8-4 and then get worse the next year because of incompetent QB play. Would kill recruiting and now with the new transfer rule you would probably see several kids leave.

I guess I’m thinking If JG can’t beat out chryst Then that means he’s quite a ways behind chryst and not what they want going forward. Bc surely if they are close you would start JG just for development purposes.

Defense first, run oriented teams don’t need a transcendent QB to succeed, so what are you so worried about?

The coaches would love to have a game breaker at QB, but as long as the guy back there plays smart and can hit the occasional long ball to keep the defense checked up, they will be fine with that.

Chryst has proven himself to be a game manager that is very smart with the ball. Although JG was just a RS-Freshman, he was not so smart with the ball.

JG very well might develop to be someone the coaches can trust back there, but they brought Chryst in because they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he can be a trustworthy game manager in this offense right now.

You could also be risking missing a bowl again. It’s not safe to assume a 2 game improvement.

Well then we need to have some serious concerns about their QB evaluation because Chryst couldn’t get it done at Stanford when all the pieces were there for him to succeed. JG had none of that and showed signs that he can be a good or very good player. I think and hope he’ll win the job this fall

He was coming off a major injury. Hello!

Ftr, I never said anything negative about JG and definitely never said McBride was better than him. I said it's not fair to say you can't judge JG but you can judge McBride.

You can either hold last year against both of them or neither of them.

He couldn’t get what done? Stay healthy?

I wouldn’t think it was a big deal until you compare his rushing totals before and after injury.

Before injury:
41 attempts 159 yards.

After injury:
19 attempts -5 yards.

That screams lost mobility, scared to run, rushed back etc...something was definitely off

Couldn’t keep his job. There’s a reason he left

Yeah, coming off an ACL surgery where he still wasn’t near 100%, his backup took over the starting position and ran away with it. How does that condemn him?

Anyways, as I said Chryst has been brought in due to how smart he plays, not because he is going to throw the opponent out of the stadium. The coaches watched last years tape on JG and are not completely sure he can offer them that. They will figure that out during Fall practice.

Man, you're awful opinionated considering the fact that we're trying to compare the future performance of two QBs who played for two different teams & coaches in the past against different sets of opponents.

FTR, I have no clue which QB is better.

However, if Chryst wins the job and JG transfers, don't you think Pruitt can find another good graduate transfer QB for 2019 if McBride or Shrout aren't ready?

That would be the hope. Or land taulia. If we land him then I won’t care who starts this year. We will have our QB of the future.
