Ehhhhhh I have about as low of an opinion as one possibly can about butch jones. I really think he’s one of the worst coaches I’ve ever had the misfortune of watching.

I agree the players were to blame but I place a huge amount of blame on butch. This year will show whether that’s fair or not

I’m not gonna sit here and act like butch should be coaching middle school. He’s just couldn’t handle the scrutiny and the spotlight of a big job at Tennessee. It’s easier when you’re rebuilding and no one has pressure on them but once we “arrived” he proved he couldn’t handle it. Our motto the year with Dobbs and kamara was “own it” and he literally could not do that himself.

That’s a tough one for me. Our program could use an 8-4 year so bad.

If we get Taulia I take it all day, but having to chose between McBride and shout makes me cringe. Going 8-4 and than 5-7 would be a really bad look. Better to go 6-6 with JG, let him develop, and hope he makes a big jump the next season

What if hypothtically JG could get those same 8 wins? That is a tough one. Who is going to be the qb next year in that scenario, because it sure as heck ain't going to be Chryst, and JG will be gone imo.

Don't look now, but Brohm and Purdue just passed us in the recruiting rankings with a Butch Jones-esque 18-commit class.

Quantity rather than quality. I will take our class now and on signing day over Purdue's.

Or it would mean that Pruitt matched Butch's best in year 1, and clearly can coach...and recruit...and more than likely he'll get somebody in who can do the job. So 'yes'.

Nothing against JG, I’d take it in a heartbeat. If we go 8-4 we’re gonna be taking some major momentum into next season recruiting wise.

With that said, I think JG will show improvement regardless of whether he’s the day 1 starter.

Because McBride is trash? 42.5% passing against two horrible defenses. Shrout has upside but I doubt he will be ready next year.

The judgement of JG here is ridiculous. It was his first year playing and it was for the worst team in Tennessee history under what I consider the worst coaching staff Tennessee has ever had on offense. He didn’t look at for a freshman. All of his mistakes were things that will improve with experience

Stop thinking short term. It would be a disaster to go 8-4 and then get worse the next year because of incompetent QB play. Would kill recruiting and now with the new transfer rule you would probably see several kids leave.
