TrumpPutingate III: the beginning of the end

President Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, contacted the drug giant Novartis after the 2016 election "promising access" to the new administration, and Special Counsel Robert Mueller later requested information from the company about the offer, a senior official inside Novartis told NBC News on Wednesday.

"He [Cohen] contacted us after the new administration was in place," the official said. "He was promising access to the new administration."

The disclosure came after an attorney representing the adult-film actress who says she had an affair with Trump released a summary of bank transactions that he says shows payments from various companies to a company controlled by Cohen.

So like many attorneys before him, he's peddling influence.

Serious question.

The pharma company paid an eye opening $1.2 million to Cohen for "insight" into how Trump thinks.

If it turned out that Trump, directly or indirectly, got any of that money, how would the Trump supporters feel about that ?

So its cool. Gotcha. If you are really looking to bring down the real deep state it's the ones lining their pockets from the special interest.

I don't like it but would need to see specifics in your hypothetical to determine how much I don't like it.

Ok, fair enough.

I just don't see how it would be ok. But we will see.

I know everyone will freak out about mentioning another politician but FFS plenty of people here saw nothing wrong with the massive amounts of money flowing to the Clintons from companies and foreign countries that were absolutely seeking influence.

All of it is wrong. None of this is unique to Trump. His people are just more clumsy at it.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts.

No it's not cool, it sucks that this is the norm for DC.

Then you have jackasses who take the story out of context and make insinuations that this is something new or somehow ties to Russia. That's worse.

That was going to be my comparison case. Swamp theory.

Good grief, VB. You know we'd much prefer to screech about Trump.

I'm glad you pointed out bham and yourself as far as mentioning Russia. Good Job.

Haven't a few of you on here kept running your mouth about the "blue wave" coming this fall?

CNN poll: Democrats' 2018 advantage is nearly gone - CNNPolitics

The generic congressional ballot has continued to tighten, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, with the Democrats' edge over Republicans within the poll's margin of sampling error for the first time this cycle.

About six months out from Election Day, 47% of registered voters say they back the Democratic candidate in their district, 44% back the Republican. Voters also are divided almost evenly over whether the country would be better off with the Democrats in control of Congress (31%) or with the GOP in charge (30%). A sizable 34% -- including nearly half of independent voters (48%) -- say it doesn't matter which party controls Congress.
