TrumpPutingate III: the beginning of the end

Do you remember Trump's campaign pledge to "drain the swamp"? This is exactly the type of conduct that Trump insisted wouldn't be a part of his administration during his campaign. This is the buying and selling of influence. And it involves his own personal attorney. This isn't fake news or any creation of the democrats. Trump has added man eating crocs to the swamp... not drained it.

And, as I said, he's not the first person to sell influence to a political figure to include those in the White House.

I just accept it as a fact of life and don't get my panties into permanently wadded mode like some of you do about it. Of course, you have to single out Trump because of his "campaign promise" as if he's also the first President to ever break one of those.

You either need a good six pack of beer and a Zoloft or an Ex-Lax and a half hour on the toilet.

Or combinations thereof.

Whatever works to loosen the mind a little from the high strung level you currently have it at.

Point being, I doubt there's been a President since (and probably including) Washington that hasn't had friends attempt to peddle influence with them. Just because it's Trump doesn't mean it's the opportune time for you to go on a rant about it.

Look, it has the potential to be very shady, but to act like it's a new development in the political world isn't very accurate.

I know and I didn't say that. The Clinton/Gore administration was swampy as hell. What makes Trump different is how much he intensely focused on this issue in the campaign. It's hard for me to forget about that.

He has been completely dodging questions on whether he got the bank account records illegally or not. I’ve read twice where he was asked and just totally deflected. Guess the IG is looking into it though.

When are you going to realize that all presidents promise things and never deliver? They tell their constituents what they want to hear to get a vote. Then once in office, they do whatever they want.

This. If you want to seize on every campaign promise that goes unfulfilled as a victory for your side, you're up sh!ts creek when your guy gets in. I still remember Obama famously saying he will close that evil torture center known as Guantanamo Bay down..:eek:lol: I loled at that one when he said. Poor guy had no idea what he was talking about.

...and the small part he got wrong is of no consequence. The meat of this story is that Cohen was being paid by this Russian oligarch.

And if it had ANYTHING to do with Trump Mueller would still have jurisdiction over the case. He wouldn’t have turned it over to another AAG.

Remember how Obama railed against lobbyists when he was running for his first term? Said they were the biggest threat facing our country? Said he would spearhead the initiative to get rid of them? Yeah... About that...

This is Trump's own personal attorney we are talking about here. This is not a complicated story. Trump's surprise win in the 2016 election sent some corporations scrambling for access to the new president and sensing this was a personal opportunity for himself, Cohen not only financially capitalized, he used a shell company (Essential Consultants) to do it. This whole thing is shadier than the Redwood Forest.

I'm still waiting on the collective liberals on here to explain how this whole "selling my services for influence" is a new development in the political world.

Or is it just "because Trump."

So you’re equating Essential Consultants to the similarities of the Clinton Foundation?

So let me get this straight, as long as you don't mention draining the swamp it's totally kosher with you?

Actually I’m waiting to see how this is Trump’s fault. If anybody can show any money transfers from the EC account into a Trump account that’s worth considering. Absent of that, this is at most Cohen cashing in on his influence which as you say is common.

I personally don’t see that much wrong with it. He wasn’t lying and it’s a good sales pitch for business. If it was implied that this money would get these people 1 on 1 access to the president or special govt contracts, then that’s an issue. Some people just wanna say I use the same lawyer as the president

My point is it's nothing new. It's been going on for decades if not centuries and it's not likely to change any time soon.

However, the gnashing of teeth and protests are trying to divert away from the real points. How did Daniel's lawyer get that information and did he commit a crime by releasing it?

Classic Fox News-type spin--the real point is how Avenatti got the information? Sorta like how the real point in the Enron case was how the whistleblower got her information and whether we can prosecute her.

Let's see where it goes. Is this the tip of an iceberg or just an ice cube bobbing around in the ocean?

It is important how he got his information, especially if what Cohen did was criminal. I thought you were a lawyer or do you just play one in your head?

Nice avoidance.

Is it or is it not illegal to release banking information without approval?

LOL! Do you really think that the drug giant Novartis paid Michael Cohen $1.2 million just for that ...

I know you guys aren't this naive.
