Gross, Hyams has always sounded dull as a 3 month razor and that whole mix of pretentious/drawl in his voice make me want to karate chop his larynx. Hard pass.

Did your boy Jones catch a pass in the spring game? I haven’t been able to watch it all yet

I agree here. He clearly liked the turnout, but if you are ever satisfied you lose. There is always room for improvement and next year we fans should do our best to up our Spring Game Attendance. I don't know what schedules will look like a year from now but If I can go, I will and take my family.

Now, we just need Phil to de-Bamafy Pruitt some more and do an Orange Blood Transfusion and we will have ourselves a coach.

He was wearing white again. Clearly hasn’t embraced the orange yet lol

Two things from this past weekend that does not surprise me:

1) Fans butt-hurt over what Pruitt said
2) Hyams butt-hurt

This past weekend was a blast! Looking forward to this Fall!

Austin Pope looked great catching that one little dump off and he rumbled and almost got in the endzone. He looks like he's going to be the fullback to me.

My starting oline prediction:

Trey Smith/Jerome Carvin/Ryan Johnson/Chance Hall/Drew Richmond

I really liked how he trucked the defenders and didn't just step out of bounds. He wanted the end zone and fought for it. Need more fight like that.:yess:

We need these two back in a big way. I think our OLine has definitely gotten better, though. With summer and fall workouts/practices they will continue to get better. They opened up some pretty big holes this past weekend.

Yeah the situation is a little better that I thought. I think we have a shot to be pretty good there if we get those 2 back.

I believe our OLine has a chance to be an above average OLine next year.

One thing I did notice is that JG still stared down his targets in the Spring Game. Dunno if that is "too much looking into" for a Spring Game, but I sure hope he doesn't do that this fall.

I think it's pretty funny that Pruitt apparently tells the offense exactly where all the holes in his defense are so they can expose them in practice. Better to go ahead and give up those big plays now. It also gets your offense used to making big plays and gives them some confidence.

The improvement on defense is going to take a little time. But I think we have a shot to be pretty good by the time the season gets going. Maybe we'll even get better as the year goes on instead of worse for a change.

Why follow recruiting? Because it's fun and we're all addicted. I like knowing who all the players are on the team, and I like knowing a good bit about our rivals, other SEC/regional teams. I know more about the rosters at Clemson, Georgia and Florida than most of their fans. Most of us on VN do. I like being educated about CFB. Makes it more enjoyable to watch on Saturdays in the fall.

Back to this thing of recruits saying one thing and doing another...that's how all this goes. Many recruits feel comfortable at multiple places, really like multiple coaching staffs, fanbases, locations, etc...but they can only choose one. Morris isn't going to go into great detail of what he's thinking with some DL from Florida who he's talking with on a recruiting trip. He's going to keep it light and fun and positive..."Hell yeah man, we're going to run things here in Knoxville/Auburn/Clemson/Athens!"

Recruiting isn't a science, it's an art. Nothing is black and white when dealing with teenage elite athletes being courted by the Top CFB programs. They say one thing and do another ALL THE TIME. Better get used to it...

As Omar would say, "All in the game, yo"

You get a like, not only for the expert level opinion, but that coupled with the Omar reference. This is why Ron is legend!

In all seriousness, I can't stand blind 'fans' who have no idea which players actually suit up for their team each week, who is living up to or exceeding expectations, etc.

Yeah I'm hoping that's part of him learning the new system. It's hard to know. I like JG. I hope he can win this job and prove to be able to lead us to wins. But I'm a little skeptical of him to be honest.

Him telling the offense that has nothing to with the offenses benefit. Though it is good for confidence like you say. It's 100% Pruitt telling the defense to step it up and fix these glaring mistakes.

Sup homies. I didn't love everything about how the Tennessee Vols played football on Saturday, but the Tennessee Vols played football on Saturday!!! I live in Indiana, and other commitments kept me away, but I have no problem with Pruitt asking for (and expecting) a commitment to winning from players and fans alike. I would have loved to bring my son and watched the first game of the Pruitt era.

Let's be thankful that we have a real coach who knows what real football players look and act like. And let's see what three more months of S&C do for our team.

We will be better than last year!

I was pleasantly surprised with what the first string o line did. Don't know how much that had to do with the defensive line though. Smith and Hall coming back will be huge.

As far as JG and being the starter, I think he needs to prove he is better than Chryst (and vice versa) before either is the starter. No favorites right now. Shrout will RS and McBride might get some mop-up duty. Maybe, iyam.

Can't take too much away from a spring game. I think a lot of fans try to read too much from it and either lose it through the summer or get way too confident. I was just happy to be there with family and enjoy the pretty day in the best stadium in the world.

But I will say that, like you said, Hall and Smith coming back would be a huge win for our OL. From what I have seen, Pruitt fully expects Hall to practice this coming fall before the season starts.

I like that Pruitt expects excellence and championships. The fans do have a role, but I also hope he looks in the mirror and understands that he has to do better recruiting.

I know its early, but recruiting is about selling a product and up to this point I'm not impressed with the early results. When we hired Pruitt, I expected better success on the recruiting trail. This is ultimately what will determine the future of the program, not attendance of a spring game.
