Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

I bet the comments on this will be all over the proverbial board. Some silly people will get offended (ridiculous) and some will pontificate as if this stuff is deep deep mysterious hidden psychological postering. I would probably agree with him there should have been more people there but that’s just me. I really am tiring of the “woe is me cause I’m a mistreated Vol fan and my team hasn’t been good for such a long time” crowd....the whole mantra of that is blatantly obsurd.

Don’t us fans deserve better though than the plate of **** of a football program we have been served up since 2008

Vol fans should take this very seriously. Cut ties with the HC and start a new search. Seems reasonable after a few post scrimmage comments. I love these threads!

Except nobody said anything like that but okie dokie.

You know what I love even more than these threads? Random ass comments that have nothing to do with anything.

Two things: 1) I think it is very fair for a coach to challenge the fans, and that is just what Pruitt did. I like the brutal honesty you get from CJP. It may not always be what you want to hear, but its a heck of a lot better than listening to Butch rattle off a million slogans. 2) I think he was hoping for an energetic 80k or more to land a commitment or two from some of the visitors, particularly Wanya Morris. However, that's the chance you take when you bring a kid in for an OV in April for a spring game instead of September-November for a real game. If he doesn't commit, it is far from a guarantee that he will choose to make the trip back to Knoxville for an unofficial. Decisions such as that and the consequences that follow fall on the shoulders of the head football coach, not the fans.

It's only his first game, and he's already offending people by telling it like it is. I love it!

The crowd was a little larger than I expected, and first team played a little better than I thought they would, about where they need to be at this point -- better than last year's team. Orange team did a lot of good things without ruining the game with way too many mistakes. White wasn't bad, really, just not on the same level. Coach should not be satisfied or discouraged. When he gets the team clicking and asks fans to fill the stadium for an important game, we will.

I think there is a balance between always being brutally honest and what Butch brought. It doesn't have to be one side or the other.

Dont have to think for myself in considering factual information. I look at a list of nc winning coaches, CJP is not listed. I could think about the list all i want, it doesnt change the list.

Larry Coker is a NC winning coach in your (and Google’s) world. When you’re dealing with that fun fact FACTUALLY, you know it was Butch Davis’s team and the assistant’s COACHING that put his name on that “list”. At least you admit you’re a slave to literal computer servers. :good!:

Ive acknowledged plenty good, where you dont see it or dont ignore it doesnt make a difference to me. But lets be honest, there isnt alot of good to talk about, crappy team for a decade. Admin is a joke. Etc...yet by my estimation ive spent no less than 25k on vols stuff, games ect over the last 7-8 years, and somehow im the problem.
And again, id much rather be discussing how the team performed today. Noone seems to want to talk about that...which tells me its crap. Yipee.

It was a spring scrimmage game without all of our players even participating. If everything would have been 100% perfect :yu: ‘d be the one repeating that over and over like a mantra. :)

I'm kind of on the fence on these comments by Pruitt. I will say I was there and I enjoyed the exhibition, comradery with fellow fans and seeing some progress from the program.

First, I completely agree with what he's trying to do with the program. Demanding results from players, staff, and fans all alike is a recipe for success. Yes, even us fans.

On the other hand, it seems to be a little misplaced and maybe just a bit tone deaf. This fan base has been through a lot over the past 10+ years. There's a fatigue regarding coaches and what they say versus the product delivered. Plus, factor in its a spring game and it's not exactly the best viewing lens that fans have of the program or players. It didn't feel like a game atmosphere today, and I think the admin could have done a little more to promote it up to drive interest, both before the game and during.

Ome of the biggest red flags about Pruitt is that he is a hothead that shoots his mouth off a lot. I thought becoming a HC might humble him. Hopefullt the guy doesnt think he's actually Saban just because he's coached with him awhile. He's done absolutely nothing as a HC yet, obviously.

Lol this is the most absurd and idiotic thing I think I have ever read..... Please show evidence of Pruitt shooting his mouth off and being a hothead. Better yet.... Please look up those definitions because at this point he said our team is not where it needs to be to compete in the SEC "obviously not being a hothead" and he barely let's the media know anything "so obviously not shooting his mouth off".

Can you really blame the guy for being upset about the travisty that was in that Orange and White game? It looked like a high school team playing.

Yea this orange and white game didn’t even compare to the hype and excitement of Kiffins first and only spring game

Our fans show up and create a real home field advantage.. Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama... The players continually give up, but somehow, a coach who’s out of the loop on the past 10 years of Tennessee football gets upset... do your job and win games.. attendance will take care of itself

Or don’t do your job, lose a good bit and fans will still show up for a while like they did with Butch.

Jeremy your will get support and benefit of the doubt for a good while, long enough to prove your worth as a football coach.

I guarantee when Florida comes to Knoxville in September, if we lose it won’t be because the fans didn’t create a significant home field advantage.

People complain about Butch being a snake oil salesman.

People whine and complain when Pruitt is honest.

Make up your mind. Do you want to hear all the BS or hear the brutal truth?

Lol, go to bed coach...been a long day.

You must have a hard on for my posts since you continually quote them...

You must be a little man behind a big keyboard and if I'm wrong, which I hope I am let's put this to rest.

Meet me at any gym, with any weight training exercise you want to compete with and we will go with it. I'm not some keyboard warrior, you send me your email and we will work it out. If you beat me I donate 10k to the university. If I beat you then you donate 10k. We will facebook live it for who ever wants to spectate.

How big a boy are ya?

Let's do the NFL combine 225 bench for reps...most reps wins and loser donates 10k

If this is true then Pruitt can absolutely suck it! To be top 3 in the SEC in attendance and top 5 nationally after coming off the worst season in program history and a complete clown show of a coaching search, I'm damn proud of our turnout today! Honestly Pruitt, get a clue!

Bald Butch is going to be in for a long season.
