But you admit it fits
No, I admit that it can be made to fit. It is made to fit after the fact, through a lot of gymnastics about what we mean by "the secret of the flesh". They did not mean "disease" when that was written, though. They meant that carnal sins were passed on through generations, and they were passed on through the blood. That's why guilt fell upon sons and grandsons
Thats an interpretation.
You have my undivided attention.
Care to elaborate?
1 Timothy 3:8
Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
King James Version (KJV)
I've ways wondered why if he was referring to any non alcoholic drink (which some think "wine" can also mean), why he chose to say "to much" instead of none at all.
He then later in the same book says,Similarly in Ephesians 5 he chose to say do not get drunk as opposed to do not drink wine
18And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
Thats an interpretation.
He then later in the same book says,
1 Timothy 5:23 King James Version (KJV)
23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
Unless he's warning of a the squirts by drinking too much juice (mama warned me) he mentions what I believe is fermented wine again in a moderate dose.
One which my great granddaddy took to heart for 60+ years of his long life on this earth by having a cup of his homemade wine every morning.
