#BoycottNRA

I'll be honest - my first thought when I read that story wasn't "that is so sad." It was "what if the family had been politically involved on the other side of the aisle - this would be covered differently."

I think my thought is still correct, but the fact that it was my first thought isn't the best look.
No it isn't but the fact that you feel that way about thinking that pretty much sums up where we are today. You are not alone.

So is there a clear, concise definition of what an assault weapon is yet?

Well, let's see...according to the lamentations of the useful idiots, an "assault weapon":

- is black;
- scary-looking;
- capable of multiple shots in a short amount of time;
- dangerous to an extreme;
- has no useful purpose;
- responsible for all kinds of mayhem.

So...hmmm...I guess Mike Tyson would be an example of an assault weapon.

How do they plan to enforce this BS?

Fines and such. I’m sure the criminals in the area will be sure to turn in their weapons.

Just wait for the snitch campaign to commence. People will be paid money to turn in their neighbors for owning scary assault weapons. This will only get worse.

This will eventually get to a federal court due to the snitches. I can't see a search warrant being valid off the word of a neighbor. And if the local cops just show up and ask to search I'd hope most people would give them a big FU.

I’d hope so. We can look to the war on drugs to see how this type of thing might be enforced.

It’s going to end up violent at some point.

Yeah, I can see the cops setting up surveillance off of a tip but but not a search warrant. Otherwise any angry neighbor can just use the cops to harass the guy next door.

Happens all the time. People love to call the cops.

Makes me nervous about how the NICS system and the 4473 forms will come into play in the future. That is basically a registry.

Looks like we have a new city to rob at will. What a bunch of morons.

I believe they illegally use them now as a registry. It would be amusing for the local cops to go that route.
