Moving forward recruiting is going to largley hinge on our on field results. If Pruitt can show some promise this year and win 6 or 7 games, I imagine we'll be a lot happier with how our 2020 class looks next spring/summer. If we miss out on a bowl game, we'll continue to be just another school for top recruits to tour.

Right now if you're a blue chip recruit, Tennessee doesn't have much to offer that schools like Clemson, UGA, Bama, OSU, etc. can't match outside of a chance for early PT. It sucks, but it's just where we are right now.

I wish Pruitt was landing more big time recruits right now. At the same time though, I can't help being reminded of Butch's early recruiting success and how it never amounted to much because he wasn't doing things the right way outside of recruiting, promoting, and work on our APR (which, as much as I grew to dislike Butch, I have to admit was a pretty big accomplisment in and of itself).

I'm holding out hope that Pruitt and this staff are (more or less) doing things the right way and bringing a substance over flash approach (as opposed to Butch's method which was basically the opposite). The result might be a slower start to recruiting, but if it means more meaningful on field results in year 1 and more credibility in recruits' eyes long term, I can deal with it. Just can't know if that's the case or not yet.

Sucks worse as a recruiter than Pruitt. And that’s saying a lot.

* Pruitt is looking for competition this spring, from every position. He side-stepped quarterback question but simply noted that every guy gets the same amount of reps, even the walk-ons.

"That’s what the game of football is all about. You have to compete. The No. 1 competitor you have to go against is stand in the mirror and look at yourself.

Everybody in our organization will get the same amount of reps. Did note that the people that are “healthy” and are “here” need to take advantage of their opportunity.

No more sitting out practice because you have a cold sore?

Exactly how I feel.

How about if you have a chapped ass? :eek:lol:

Colton Jumper with a 4.69, 9-9 broad. Nice day for him so far.

Two guys who have looked good today are Jumper and Moseley.

Sizing up a couple current guys here at Pro Day: K’Rojhn Calbert, Princeton Fant and JUCO signed Jordan Allen looked good.

Berry doing on-field drills as a WR.

Kahlil McKenzie is doing position drills with the offensive linemen at the moment. Mostly agility stuff for now. He definitely did some OL-specific stuff later in the session with drops and hand-punch.

K’Rojhn Calbert, Eli Wolf, Jauan Jennings, Austin Smith, Alexis Johnson, Darrin Kirkland and Darrell Taylor are among the current players I’ve seen stroll through the complex today.

Wow, some surly posts already this AM. How would anybody even know if recruiting is going poorly or well? There's very little info coming out to even know.

I would have hoped that CRB would have taught some fans a lesson on how quality coaching works. If not him, maybe focus on what Scott Frost accomplished. The whole should be greater than the individual parts. If it isn't you have the wrong coaching staff.

He needs about 45-50 on the roster making up the two deep to buy in to get it done as a whole. The guys not playing can then decide to get with the program and compete - or leave. At this point it sounds like if they do not buy in now they will be out the door no matter what. It's how it works with the better programs. Some of you need to rewind the tape and rethink it all to earn your Vol fan stripes back. The hope is for a bowl this season. That's it. We need him to improve the record to 6 wins or more. Then more elite players will come as he proves he can win.

How many times has this board wished that Evan Berry would be on offense--wide receiver.

I hope he does great in the NFL.

"I got to be Jeremy Pruitt. That’s who I got to be. I’m not Nick Saban. I’m not Mark Richt. I’m not Jimbo Fisher. I got to be who I am."

My favorite part about the article that Ron posted yesterday.
