Strengthening background checks is the only one under the second category that is worth a damn. The other 3 are touchy feely liberal feel good crap that accomplish nothing. The first category is OK

I didn’t look at the house vote spread but in the senate it was largely republican. Only one republican dissented and only three dims voted yes. I would guess it’s similar in the house.

There is no gun grab in the bill so the dims have to publically oppose it or get cast out. This is largely a republican drafted bill I believe.

Dims as a group don’t like this bill as it doesn’t quench their gun grab thirst.

Again, you use the word compromise, where did the left compromise? The left's goal is total disarmament. The statement have been made that they realize this is a nibble by nibble, bite by bite strategy. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. That's why the left uses these tragedies for political gain, allows them to take a bigger bite.

There is no compromise as we all know. They didn’t have the votes for their gun grab so they voted against it. That’s compromise in their world I guess. 🙄

Why do you think that the left's goal is "total disarmament"? That's pure rhetoric on your part, as the vast majority of all Americans regardless of political slant support gun ownership. You feel threatened for no reason.

The issue at hand is taking reasonable action to reduce the probability of similar mass murders in the future. Nothing, I repeat nothing, done by the Florida Congress actually eliminates sane, adult Floridians ability to arm themselves.

And yet it got a resounding “meh” response from dims. In the senate vote only 3 dims crossed over and voted for. Only 1 republican against. In the house it was 57 for and 19 against for republicans and 10 for 31 against for dims.

Dims didn’t want this bill and didn’t support it because it has no gun grab at all in it. Thus the republicans are the ones taking the responsible action I guess that you are referring to! It damn sure wasn’t dims!!

If you are looking to disarm law abiding citizens from those guns and mags, yes. You failed. Those seeking to do harm, criminals and the sort that aim to kill, no. You just put them in a no paper trail market, if that is what they are looking to use.

I'm not going to do the research for you but maybe you should research comments made by Chuck shummer and Nancy Pelosi, both leaders of the Democratic party and others within the Democratic party.

Clearly there is no middle ground on this issue. I believe - as do a majority of Americans - that assault style weapons should be banned. It's not a judgement of whether you are responsible gun owners, rather it's a declaration of the truth that these are weapons of war and serve no purpose other than killing people.

When and if, God forbid, your loved ones are gunned down at school, at a movie theatre, wherever - you can return to the PF and remind us all how important it is for private citizens to maintain their ability to wage war in the streets.
