I didn't watch the whole thing, and I wasn't riveted to the pats I did watch. IMHO, some of the last people that should be weighing in on the security issue and prevention of this kind of thing are parents of these kinds of tragedies because they are way too emotionally involved and on top of that more than likely have zero knowledge of the kinds of security that would prevent this. Many of the Sandy Hook crowd is 'muh guns'; get rid of them and problem solved.I think the positives that I took from the open forum were that POTUS openly and candidly communicated with people who have been personally effected with situations like, Florida, Colorado and Sandy Hook and asked them what we should do to make sure these situations at least happen at a smaller rate. It obviously remains to be seen if anything will come from it. Hopefully something will be done to reduce these horrible mass murders. However, there is no simple answer and I think it will be a very long process.
Ask yourself how we have prevented another 9/11 in MY industry. You are not going to change the mind of the jihadis and you certainly aren't going to disarm them, so you have to prevent them from access to the 'weapon' in that case the cockpit of the airplane. Harden the target. That is actually the second third or even fourth layer of security to prevent another 9/11. Even I don't know the real amount of behind the scenes security. The last line of defense is the armed pilot. You attempt to go thru that armored cockpit door in flight, and you are going to be shot.... right square in the face. No.questions.asked. This is nothing different except that liberals believe banning certain kinds of weapons will solve this problem. In a parallel universe somewhere that is happening and intelligent people are watching the next school killing saying "see? told you"
