I would rather have a proven WR coach. Our WR have lacked coaching for so long that IMO we should not be experimenting by bringing a HS coach to coach wide receivers. If he was coming for Special teams I could understand the hire.

BTW, I do appreciate that you can actually spell his name correctly.

Somebody in this thread “corrected” me not long ago about not spelling it correctly, when I wrote Propst.

I think when it comes to recruiting that Pruitt is playing the long game by bringing in someone like Propst.

Follow me here... it's really hard to get a four or five year jump on recruiting kids because it's hard to predict growth and development. A kid might be tearing it up in middle school and high school because he developed a lot earlier than his competition.

You can, however, develop relationships with up-and-coming high school coaches quicker and better than your competition, and those types of relationships get your foot in the door when those coaches inevitably have a player you want.

Someone like Propst has relationships with high school coaches across two prime recruiting states, particularly Georgia.

This is about developing recruiting connections for the next 5-10 years.

We also just need to fill this program up with people who expect to win and will do whatever it takes. Propst is one of those guys.

I would imagine that a proven offensive mind that is known for passing game can handle coaching WR's. Some may argue he's over qualified but needs to start somewhere since he's never coached in college. I don't think his lack of experience as a college wr coach will be a big deal.

Our WR play has been so poor(I.e. - no separation). I just think it best to get an experienced WR coach.

It will be a big deal with our fanbase, if our WRs continue under perform. WR along with Oline are the two offensive positions we have really struggled with for the past 5 years.

His coaching tree is Pruitt, Sherrer, and Chip Lindsay (AU's OC). He can probably handle WRs.

Crazy a HS coach has a coaching tree like that.

I get that but you are assuming he doesn't know how to coach wrs just because he never had the title. I'm saying he was a head coach who specialized in passing offense for a long time. I bet he knows more about coaching WR's than you are giving him credit for. Side note: butch had experience as a wr coach.
