Young earth creationism is off the table completely because modern science determines that to be absurdity of the highest order and there are mountains of evidence which prove the earth is far older.
Creationism in general is not taught because there is nothing really to teach. "Scientists theorize an event called the big bang occurred and the universe expanded rapidly from a single point. The evidence behind this theory is.."
"Or, we guess it could have been a supreme god, but there's nothing really we can test or observe that would legitimize this theory in a scientific context. And this is a science class, so.."
It's just not relevant.
Methodological naturalism is a metaphysical belief.
I have no qualms with people being religious.
You teaching kids young earth creationist nonsense is doing nothing but stunting them intellectually.
I suggest you look up someone like William Lane Craig, or other academics of your faith on what they have to say on YEC evidence and how it is hurting Christianity.
No I don't think that would actually describe how I believe. The bolded is a common technique used by many religions and denominations. The LDS Church relies heavily on this. If you are truly seeking the truth through prayer, then you will see it the same way I do.
I dont actually know if you hold that belief, but it seems as though you might.
I meant no disrespect with the baptist comments. I find baptist to be some of the more reasonable people. My kids went to a COC school you can imagine how that went.
I only said that as we attended the same baptist church as kids (my mother is baptist) and played on the same league b-ball team.
Then this would lead me to believe that there could be multiple paths to salvation.
This is exactly what I asked and, tho you didnt ask, I agree that is how a Christian should believe. Not necessarily you don't have to believe everything that I believe. There are however some Cardinal doctrines that must be believe for salvation. However doctrines of events you can be wrong on and still go to heaven. Such as you can believe again Theory or young Earth 6 day literal creation Theory and still be saved. You may have a different opinion on what the scripture says about the second coming of Jesus Christ and still be saved. However you may not be wrong about the atonement of Jesus Christ and what he did on the cross of Calvary for salvation. You must believe the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ to be saved. The Virgin birth of Jesus Christ is a necessary Doctrine as to who he is.
I hope that cleared it up some for what you were asking.
Not what I said at all.
I believe our conscience is God speaking to us.
Torah and the prophets were protected by scribes with a ridiculous level of scrutiny. The letters and writings (New Testament) not so much
The problem is its written in ancient Hebrew that is very difficult to translate and maintain its original interpretation. Plus the translation doesnt take into account the customs of the time and how the original audience would have understood it.
Sadly we dont know.
Weve shown HaShem so much respect the actual vowels have been lost to history.
