We NEED a coach with head coaching experience. A big name right? Hmmm. I wanted Gruden as much as anybody here...but it's interesting that 3 of the 4 coaches in the BCS playoffs this year are all former assistants/coordinators currently on their 1st ever head coaching gigs.

Please see my post #3146 on page 63 for your answer

Just gonna throw this out there...Jon gruden was discussed as a possibility here not by the media so to an extent it makes sense as the mystery candidate 😁👍🏽

Actually last Sunday remember CBS put out an article saying John Gruden was in talks with Tennessee to become head coach....then later that day Shiano's name came out

I’d rather have Pruitt over Steele. I’d take Tucker but don’t see it happening. I believe it’s between those 2 with Pruitt having the edge.

Everybody grab the reins and pull back and slow this runaway steed. This is not just Phil ... it will require more than just his signature. To get The Grude ... it will take 18M ... you and I got no issue signing ... but can Bev and Joe.

Phil has to have plan B. Look what happened to Currie. What you see is Phil working on plan B.

So it will be 'glorious' or 'disappointing' .... but it will be an administration decision. We need the boosters guidance... Calling Atlanta Vol, .... Reach out and give the army marching orders .... or tell us ... patience is a virtue.

I would be curious what merchandise and alumni doner numbers are in Georgia the past 90 days.

Jeff Fisher has not been contacted about the #UT job but implied he would listen. He considers Tennessee home. #Vols

Well there it is.

The ultimate underachiever

honestly, I think he would dominate at college level with fisher ball. fits fulmers style too. pound the rock, stout azz defense. other than that I have no opinion other than I could get behind it before most of the names that's been floated in this coaching search

I remember that. That’s what I was saying yesterday. Everyone was excited about his posts but I felt like the original owner was trolling.

I’m pretty sure PV and the original owner know each other. Their either related or friends of the family one. If PV got wind of him doing this, I’m pretty sure there would be an a$$ chewing in order. That’s why I think it’s PV

Hope springs eternal...

Let's put it this way into optimistic terms. Fulmer knows what catapulted him into the position he currently holds. Furthermore, knows what this base desires, craves and is ready to riot for. His first PC was a clue when he talked about "the mistakes of the last nine years." I have thought heavily on this and what he meant. He has no love for Kiffin, knew Dooley was a mistake and bit his tongue where Jones was concerned.

Fulmer has UT at his heart and knows we bumbled about for nine years after his dismissal. He knows a name goes a long way in these realms and should know we are at a critical junction in UT's history. We can fade into obscurity like Colorado did 25 years ago and continue with mediocre after mediocre hire. Or he can get someone worthy of the Power T brand that causes us all to celebrate and give reason to continue coming back.

I choose to have faith AD Fulmer knows what he is doing and is ready to give the starving pack of wolves a truckload of steaks. He's not saying anything at the moment, which causes anxiety in our base and leaves us to our imagination to think horrible thoughts about who the next coach is. But, let's step back and remember who he is and realize he wants the same thing as we do.

If we end up with a name like Pruitt after a name like Gruden actually hit the national media, this will go down as one of the worst coaching hire failures ever.

Doesn't take a Mensa mind to figure that out, duh. but thx for posting it.

Well, everyone is so shocked we are going after a coordinator, this is the reason. So the argument of us being a top tier destination school is moot given the current climate. Those individuals need to manage their expectations a little more than they are.
