Nope! It’s not one or two incidents/errors in judgement. This is about who he his - leopards like that don’t change their spots, especially under high pressure. He may be a talented defensive mind but where the rubber meets the road for me is character. Would you put your son with a mentor of low character? Look what happened with Butch. That is Jeremy Pruitt - don’t believe me, call some former UGA or FSU players.

Not defending Pruitt as a hire, but I will say, I've heard the opposite from some former UGA and FSU players. Not out of the realm of imagination that all personalities don't click. Particularly in high-end athletics.

To all the people who are saying the coach has to have HC experience think about his.

1. Fulmer wasn't a head coach.
2. Mark Richt wasn't a head coach.
3. Jimbo Fisher wasn't a head coach.
4. Bob Stoops wasn't a head coach.
5. Dabo Swinney wasn't even a coordinator.
6. Kirby Smart wasn't a head coach.
7. Lincoln Riley wasn't a head coach.

The list goes on 3 of those 4 are in the Playoff.

All head coaches were not a head coach at some point, duh. Can't recall someone becoming a head coach without being an assistant or coordinator of some kind. You don't just show up and become a college head coach. I think the point is that we don't want to convert someone into a head coach. We want a standing or at least someone with extensive head coaching experience AND was able to win.

After it's done maybe we need a JFG Memorial Thread for the those of us who believe Tennessee should be striving for greatness and not mediocrity.

Now think about this, most of that list was already on staff at the school they eventually took over. The advantages of being in-house drastically outweigh being given the opportunity.

As might be the case with the hire and this entire debacle, don't think it matters to anyone but us.

Fulmer will march Pruitt out and the same folks that blindly supported Dooley and Jones until the end will fall in line. They will shout anyone down who questions his greatness and the wheel of suckage will keep on turning.

That is being an adult ya know. Being able to realize your disappointment but still able to support the coach UNTIL he gives us reason not to. I want Gruden just as much as anyone but after the way this coaching search has been totally screw over by the UT AD, we do need to pull together or UT will go so far down the drain the Robert Neyland himself couldn't fix it.

Fair point. But after what happened last week perhaps we can be the change agent promoter for the future.

Or we can just accept that after everything that's happened in the past week that the alumni (and fans) voice really is never going to be heard.

If we roll out this "Let's see and hope" crap again ..Lake Mary may have one less Vol fan tomorrow :)

Good morning all...

Oh, I'll still be a Vol fan, but not what I once was. It will be more like last 9 or 10 years. Going into every game hoping to see a sign of improvement or a glimmer of something that shows we are finally we getting back to what we once were.

Yes I suffer from BVS. But my my cajones are seriously sore from the repeated kickings.

I want to get back to feeling that every game we played, we were going to win. The feeling that every time we took the field, the other team - no matter who it was - knew we were coming to relentlessly hit them and hit them hard. Confident.

Remember that feeling when CPF was giving his statement Friday? That was confidence. Remember the feeling watching the new hype video? That was the rekindling of confidence.

Confident vs Hopeful

If we roll out the names being talked about, it's groundhog day repeating the last 10 years of hopefulness.

That is what Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina, Mississippi State, and Missouri do.

And maybe that's my answer of where we are now...
