I think the boosters are to the point where they're tired of the unknown. I don't like Pruitt, I don't think he's of the caliber we should be going at, but I also think we're at the point where we need a face of the football program so we can start getting recruits. If the accounts are accurate regarding Meyer and Smart being in Knoxville the last few days, then clearly they're recruiting in our own neighborhood and the boosters see this. They realize we need to save the class we have, and the only way to do that is to have an actual coach. Thus, I think at this point, they'll accept anyone with a decent resume. I am anti-Pruitt like the rest of us, but I also see the writing on the wall...:mf_surrender:

I’ll go down swinging. I’m sure that the boosters look at this board to gauge the fan reaction to a hire. Can we slide this in or are they going to revolt again? I really shocks me at all the people on here that are not ready to stay the course. What do you have to loose at this point? I have a connection to a player and I am not going to stop until we get what we deserve! I will not settle for Pruitt or any other crap they think works. These kids that give their all for TN is what really matters. Gruden to the Hill Fulmer! We will not settle for mediocrity anymore!

Grude morning Vol fans. Yesterday was a grueling 16 hour shift and we went from PaulVols Gifs to meltdown city. I will also be working crazy hours today and will be able to check in on breaks. Hopefully we will have some more leaks or at least some direction today.

If it is indeed Pruitt, then I'm not sure why we haven't announced him yet.

Maybe it is still someone else.

Gruden to the Hill

I will not blindly follow a Pruitt hire, I will not be out but take a wait and see attitude.
I would rather have Fulmer than Pruitt.

I hear Bud Kilmer is free.

He has a bad loss at Gilroy, but he won a lot of games at West Canaan.

Legally speaking, he shouldn't be saying NOTHING like this if its true

Wouldn't be smart of him. I would guess their is a non disparagement clause in his contract. On the other hand he could frame it not about UT but about difficulty in recruiting, fan expectations etc.

Nope! It’s not one or two incidents/errors in judgement. This is about who he his - leopards like that don’t change their spots, especially under high pressure. He may be a talented defensive mind but where the rubber meets the road for me is character. Would you put your son with a mentor of low character? Look what happened with Butch. That is Jeremy Pruitt - don’t believe me, call some former UGA or FSU players.

So fans like you are not willing to give him a chance? And you have no flaws in your character? And dont need to talk to former players I will let this hire play out. Everyone can be forgiven and I think he will be fine and surround himself with a great staff and win at a high rate. One question for you if his past is so bad why has it not hendered him at Alabama?

Because there is not ONE SINGLE SHREAD of evidence that he is a good head coach. None! I'm tired of being a dang experiment and don't even bring that crap of so and so was an assistant. We deserve better. Our peers ponied up and got a proven head coach.

So position coaches cannot be great head coaches?

Called a background check and due diligence. Something this University doesn't do well

Yep, it's not so much about judgment but going in with your eyes open.

I think I heard "integrity" mentioned by ADPF and if there's ANY weight to certain rumored aspects of Pruitt's character he hasn't got it.

I also believe those same aspects, if true, will be potentiated by having the power of a HC position.

I could maybe go along with this except for two things:

1. Why would Pruitt leave his alma mater to come to UT for the same job? There is little rationale to that. If he is involved it is for head coach and nothing else.

2. Too much smoke around the DC's. These are legit leaks not rumors. There has been absolutely zero smoke surrounding Gruden since Fulmer took over.

Not trying to argue here but:

1) you know that you aren’t going to be he head coach at Bama when the mighty Saban retires. Also you haven’t been on that staff but what like a year? Why not get to a place you can possibly move up?

2). All the “leaks” before have proven unfounded in the end. That’s why I said we have had all these coaches ready to sign but none of them did. Brohm never ever had an type of deal negotiations. WBIR reporter that little nugget that went overlooked by many. Leach was the same way, no deal was offered but the media looked like it was done. I could tell you right now that Gruden had signed on the dotted line but that doesn’t make it true right?

To all the people who are saying the coach has to have HC experience think about his.

1. Fulmer wasn't a head coach.
2. Mark Richt wasn't a head coach.
3. Jimbo Fisher wasn't a head coach.
4. Bob Stoops wasn't a head coach.
5. Dabo Swinney wasn't even a coordinator.
6. Kirby Smart wasn't a head coach.
7. Lincoln Riley wasn't a head coach.

The list goes on 3 of those 4 are in the Playoff.

so yall just gon ignore this?!

Twitter

I don't think everyone is ignoring it. I just think everyone that processes it comes to the same conclusion I did. Why in the world would anyone even talk to Butch? He isn't exactly the poster child for truth and credibility.

Put it to you this way, if you were considering a new opportunity, would you believe anything said by someone who was just fired from that company? Particularly given they were told it should have been for cause, but no one wanted the nastiness of a drawn out legal fight?

Wouldn't be smart of him. I would guess their is a non disparagement clause in his contract. On the other hand he could frame it not about UT but about difficulty in recruiting, fan expectations etc.

he can frame it how he wants. if he is negatively speaking on UT in any fashion that is detrimental to the school, to potential coaches, staff members, players or recruits.....then he will end up returning that 8mil buyout.

If we are going the OC or DC route I would rather hire Tee or just forgive Kiffin and bring him home.

After all we forgave Dickey and named him AD after he basically threw the TN/Fla Gator Bowl then ran off to coach the gators
