Fulmer hiring a crony is just terrible. It's a terrible hire and it's terrible to think that Fulmer pulled off the impossible only to immediately **** the bed.

You guys have won me over with the whole “Pruitt wil be a dog” line of thinking. If the dude takes it personal and wants to put Kirby not-so-Smart in his place, I can get behind it at this point. Just please make Bama pay us at least $15 million when they hire him away from us.

Apart from Steele and a jaded history, the man is 60 years old!! Why can't we target someone younger that can physically handle what this job is gonna demand?!
Maybe I'm looking at all wrong, but that's a big red flag for me.

It just seems like UT can't get out of its own way. There are several far better candidates out there and maybe they have interviewed them or maybe they just told us NO?

I know Venables would be interested. I know they have spoke. I just don't know the content of that conversation.

I don't see Steele as a HC, well not at UT. Maybe at a smaller school, maybe at a non power 5 at this stage in his coaching career. He seems like a Coordinator and not a HC. Not saying he isn't a good coach and maybe I'm missing something. But some people I've talked to are also scratching their heads if this happens.

There has to be some other explanation for him being a front runner. Has to be cause it just doesn't make sense.

And as far as the financial contract, no way in hell I would pay him more than 3 mil/year.

Well obviously Steele trotted into the interview, slammed down that HC resume' including that 1 conference win, dropped the mic and trotted back out.

Who could we hire at this point? All the options suck. Some just suck less. We’re lost 4 of the last 6 to Vandy. No big name coach is busting down the door to coach here. We’re a train wreck and everyone knows except for our own fans.

when youre looking at steele and pruitt you might as well just hire Tee. I mean i would get it if you had brohm, leach and others out there but at this point why not. Youre at the bottom of the barrel now.

I mean, we know Miles is interested. By every indication he would take the job. He HAS to be better than Steele. He has to.

Is this denial or bargaining?

Too many egos and plays for power to make smart moves IMO. Too many grudges and back stabbings make it difficult for people to work together. When Fulmer said "We need to come together" he meant "You need to get on board with what I say to do". It's not going to improve any time soon.

Catching up here. Why is everyone convinced that it will be Steele, other than a well-founded belief that good things just don’t happen to UT?

Something is weird concerning Miles. It's kinda like when UT fired Phil, it was almost as if he was "black balled" around the country.

I don't know if that is the reason behind schools staying away from Miles but something is wrong.

Maybe his age is a determining factor? But the guy won a natty and had a string of pretty damn good seasons. If he was able to develop a QB, he would still be there.
